Athens 2004!

Sunday, August 15, 2004 | 16:02

Ok, my updates will be few and far between until the end of the Games. I’m happy that NBC is showing so many sports, but that leaves little time to do anything else. Currently I’m watching Men’s Indoor Volleyball - Team USA vs. Italy. I will have to say that Volleyball is one of my favorite Olympic sports to watch. It’s quite action packed. Also, yesterday they had Badminton (mixed doubles) on Bravo. That sport is freaking insane. Did you know that the shuttlecock is routinely hit at over 200 mph? They say it may turn into a sport fad here in the U.S. just like Curling did after the 2002 Winter Games. We’ll see… I know I won’t be playing though. ;o)

OK, back to the Olympics. I have over 14 hours of stuff to watch. Thank god for ReplayTV, I can skip the boring stuff like Basketball that NBC seems to think we just have to see here in America. I swear, the NBA season just ended, who needs more basketball… ugh!!

BB5 update!! Imagine that!

Sunday, August 8, 2004 | 17:37

OMG!

Ok, so here’s what went down!

They show some more of the behind the scenes from Thursday’s show. They show Jase (during the commercial break) calling out Adria, saying she’s the biggest liar in the whole house and that she betrayed her word…. all of this because Scott was gone. Jase takes marvin aside and says that he voted for Marvin to stay and that Karen voted for him to leave (a total lie). Marvin didnt’ believe a word of it though. Cut back to the living room, Jase won’t drop the whole Adria lying thing, it gets really heated, Marvin jumps in and says, “didn’t you just say that you voted for me to stay and that Karen voted me out, so why are you mad that Scott is gone? Shouldn’t you be happy? What are you accomplishing by saying that Adria is a liar?” Then! Julie comes back on and is telling them about the whole new twist… and then cut to Jase in the diary room, “I just get done cussing this girl out and what walks through the diary room door? Another one!” So he’s all mad that he was such a jackass to Adria and now he’s basically made two enemies right off the bat (as if the whole house didn’t just dislike him (besides cowboy and drew!))

Next, Food competition… they have to eat pies to get food cards at the bottom of the pies. There are 5 eat cards and only the players that find those will be able to eat the food that all the players are pulling from the pies. There is also one steal card, where the player who gets that can take an eat card from someone who has one, or not, if they choose. Will wins the steal card and steals Diane’s eat card. Will, Marvin, Natalie, Karen, and Cowboy (along with the HOH, Nic) all get to eat. everyone else is on PB&J.

Cut to nomination ceremony… Nic shocks Jase by pulling his key from the nomination box first… he totally thought he was going to get put up. He’s overly happy. The two people nominated are Diane and Marvin. Little does Jase know that this is all an elaborate plan to get him out of the house. The 6 people vieing for the veto will be in the alliance and they will remove either Diane or Marvin from the block and Nic will put up Jase, and he’ll have no way of getting himself off! So he’s out! (if it all comes together… so Tuesday will be an important/exciting show!)

Now, what else is going on in my life, besides Big Brother… lol.

Work at BOB sucked this weekend…. it was extremely boring. There is no one at the games… at least no one that is buying anything. At least I was downstairs today… I was able to watch the game, even though the dbacks lost 11 - 4. Damn Braves.. oh well!

Again, I must remind all of you that the Olympics start on Friday. I found a sweet site that has the commercials that NBC runs for the Olympics. I would suggest you all go and check it out. Some are funny.. others are just a bit inspirational, and some are just sappy… but whatever, they’re all good… go here!

Work this upcoming week should be pretty good. No major things going on and we have our quarterly bowl-a-thon. This time the Rules Development Dept takes on the Data Quality Dept… and maybe a rematch with the Customer Service Dept (but we already beat them, even when they cheated, so if they win, it won’t count). This is to go down on Friday, so I’ll keep you posted on how the trash talking at work goes… and of course the final score!!

Also, my 1 year anniversary is in 2 weeks… Aug 25th. I have to setup my review so I can get a raise, and yes, I am getting a raise. Hopefully I can get what I want… but we’ll see. I’ll let you all know how it goes!

That’s all for today’s post… it was quite lengthly, but it had a huge BB update that was exceedingly important.

Could BB5 get any better?

Friday, August 6, 2004 | 10:15

Let me just say that last night’s BB episode was GREAT. I’ve been waiting 5 weeks for the twin secret to be revealed and it finally happened! The reaction by the house was perfect. The balance of power has shifted and you can tell that Jase is no longer as confident as he used to be. Last night’s episode should have been 2 hours long so that we could have seen more of the post reveal reaction. Of course, this is not possible because there is no way to control what the house guests are going to do. I’m surprised that the house guests are able to control their language for the small amount of time that they are on TV live.

Anyway, one of the funniest things i heard on the live feed last night was Karen saying that if Jase was the one with the twin she would have walked out of the house during the live show. Then Nic and Will chimed in and said, “yup, we would have been right behind you.” That would have been some good TV.

Ok, so here’s a question… or not really a question, but why wouldn’t you do this?? So they want Jase out of the house… the only people allowed to participate in the Power of Veto competition are the people who are nominated and the HOH plus the choices of the nominees and the HOH as their partners. So, you put up two people who are in your alliance, they pick people who are in the alliance to play the veto competition as well as the HOH picks a person who is the alliance to participate and once someone wins it, you take a person off the block and put up Jase. He then has NO WAY of taking himself off and all you have to do is make sure the alliance is strong and will vote correctly and there you have it. Come on people, it’s not that difficult! BE SMART! Anyway, we’ll see what happens this upcoming week!! Sooooo good!!

On another note, ATHENS in ONE WEEK! It’s going to be great! So much to see, not enough time in the day!!

Ok, back to work for me. I’m so bad. :o)

I know you’ll be amazed but…

Tuesday, August 3, 2004 | 23:10

I haven’t seen The Village yet!! Yikes! I am planning on seeing it tomorrow, so I’ll update then with my small review.

Now, on to other things… let me see… oh yeah, NINE Days until Athens! Sweet! If you know me at all you know how much I love the Olympics. It’s going to be so great.

What else… oh yeah, today is Tuesday… that means BB and TAR were on. So let me recap for those of you who decide that those shows are not important enough to make time to watch. ;o)

BB this week, Scott and Jase as we know are on the eviction block… tonight’s episode was the veto competition in which only the two put up for eviction, the HOH and three other house guests (each person gets to choose one) compete. First of all, Diane is completely retarded, if you didn’t want Jase to get the Veto you had to put enough coins in his piggy bank to knock him out of the competition. You know that you have one other person on your side and all you two had to do was put all your coins in his pig and it would be over… needless to say, that didn’t happen. Jase won veto power (sucks!!) and in the subsequent veto ceremony, took himself off the block. This forced Diane to put someone else up. Scott and Jase wanted Marvin to go up because they believe that they can sway the other house guests to vote for him instead of Scott. Little do they know that the real plan is to get rid of Scott. He’s the lesser of two evils, but since Jase got off, they have no choice. Now, I’m predicting that they go through with this, but if for some reason it turns out that Marvin gets evicted, I will be speachless. If these people think they will survive another week with Scott and Jase in the house, they are on crack! We’ll find out on Thursday… and that’s also the day that Adria and Natalie both get to come into the house, which will be super cool!! (did i just say super cool??)

Now, TAR, well, it continues to make me happy. It’s the highlight to my Tuesday night. This week they traveled from St. Petersburg to Cairo. I have officially picked a team and that team is Colin and Christy (or is it Kristy?). Now, I know you’re all thinking that’s just because they are in the lead but that’s not so. If you’ve ever watched this show before, you know a lead this early in the race means absolutely nothing! They are a smart team and they play fair (for the most part). The teams had to go to the Hermitage Museum to find Rembrant’s “The Prodigal Son” which was easier than it sounds (most museums place art by the same artist in the same room/wing). After that, they had to make their way to Cairo. In Cairo, they had to make their way over to the Giza Plateau and complete some tasks. The tasks consisted of putting together a puzzle to find out where to go next, followed by a Detour which made them choose between leading some Camels to a carpet merchant over a mile away or moving two 100 lb cement bricks 100 yards. The only people to do the Camel way was Charla and Myrna. The other teams were too late to do that one and had to move the cement bricks. Anyway, the finishing teams for this leg were Colin/Christy, Myrna/Charla, Brandon/Nicole, Chip/Kim, Marshall/Lance, Kami/Karli, and Linda/Karen. This was a non elimination round so Linda/Karen were spared being booted off the show, but the new twist for this season is that they lose all their money and have take on the next leg broke. That’ll make it much more interesting… I believe they’ll be able to survive through this next leg. We’ll see! Tune in next Tuesday to find out!!

Ok, time for bed! Diamondbacks WON! amazingly enough! HP comes for a visit tomorrow (scary!!) and I need my sleep because work is not going to be fun tomorrow!!
