I’m Sick…

Wednesday, September 29, 2004 | 21:54

*cough* I’m sick! It’s not fun being sick. I have yet to take a day off of work though. See how dedicated I am?!? We’ll see how I am tomorrow.

Anyway I’ll write tons more when I’m better but I had to mention somethings first…

See Garden State at the theatre. Simply awesome movie, and the soundtrack is kick ass as well (I’m listening to it now!).

House hunting sucks.

Congrats to Rachel in Seattle on the birth of her baby boy. Yay! I can’t wait to see him!!

And if I don’t get over my illness by Friday, I’m going to be really angry. Every year the Way Out West Oktoberfest comes around and for some reason or another I am unable to attend. It starts on Friday and that is the only day I can go, damn last weekend of baseball!! Anyway, I’m hoping real hard that I can get better and make it there. It’s gonna be great, or as someone at work would say, “it’s going to be a bonanza!”

I’m going to go insane with this home buying crap!! I’ll share more later, but let me just say that I’m seriously going to go insane! Visit this site and choose Artisan Village to see where I’m hoping to get qualified to buy into…. let me know what you think!

Last weekend of work for 2 weeks! Sweet! No more high schoolers! YAY!

Ok, time to watch a movie. I’m gonig to get way behind if I don’t watch one tonight! (don’t laugh, but the movie for tonight is going to be Pokemon Heros; a.k.a. Pokemon the Movie 4)

Ugh.. Thank God there is only one more weekend!

Saturday, September 11, 2004 | 22:35

OK, again I have to bitch and complain about my job at BOB. These high schoolers are pissing me off more than you can even understand. They are driving me insane. I’m sorry, but this is a part time, easy ass job, and it shouldn’t be that hard to just do your job, right? Well, these children seem to have some major issues. This weekend has been pretty good though, so I can’t complain too much… except….

Ok, how hard is it to understand what sexual harassment is and how not to do it??? At the beginning of the season we had the staff meeting where this was all explained to us… but I guess it didn’t stick. I had to speak to 2 guys today about comments they were making. They didn’t seem to realize that sexual harassment doesn’t necessarily have to be directed towards someone who is working with you… it can just be a derogatory comment made about someone of the opposite/same sex that someone finds offensive and creates a hostile work environment. I’m not sure if this makes me less of a ‘guy’ or not but I don’t see why anyone would see the need to say things about a girl that is walking by that I just can’t repeat in this post! Is that supposed to be cool? Am I just too old? What’s the deal? Anyway, I felt kind of weird having to mention it to these guys, but I have to do the whole manager thing, besides the fact that it’s not very professional. I mean, there are girls that work with us and there was a girl that was working with us today.

Anyway, that’s all the ranting for today.

Hey you, person in FL! Watch out for Ivan, he’s headed right at Tallahassee and I don’t think he wants to play nice!!

It’s Teaching Time!

Friday, September 10, 2004 | 23:11

So, to further the education of my fellow readers, here is a link to a page that LiveJournal has setup for our favorite part of the English language; Homonyms!

Also, here’s a small rant about the use of the “apostrophe s”… enjoy!

Contraction Form - The cat’s out of the bag.

Possessive Form - The cat’s feet are out of the bag.

Plural - All the cat’s are out of the bag. << WRONG! INCORRECT! WHERE’D YOU LEARN THIS!? STOP DOING IT!!! >>

Some POPULAR but INCORRECT rules:

1. When pluralizing a word that ends with a vowel, add an “apostrophe s.” (WRONG)
2. When pluralizing any other word, add an “apostrophe s.” (WRONG)
3. Add an “apostrophe s” whenever you feel like it. (Surprisingly, this is also wrong)

Ok, now that I have educated you on common homonym misusage and the consistant misusage of the “apostrophe s”, please take the time to proof read your written material. Remember, it will save you from looking like a complete and utter moron.

Just a quickie!

Thursday, September 2, 2004 | 22:07

Ok, so I just downloaded the free song of the week from iTunes. You can see the info about the song below. Now I know not everyone enjoys country music but this song isn’t too bad, but it is pretty country. The funny thing is… the guy who sings the song is from Australia! How the heck does someone from Australia end up creating a country music album? Just find that quite amusing. I mean, it is a music style invented in the U.S.

This is not cool…

Wednesday, September 1, 2004 | 9:55

This is not turning out to be a real bad Hurricane season. We’re only to the F’s and there have been two that have made land fall in the FL area… and here comes Frances…

I’m at work, else I’d post more. You’ll be seeing more posts from me… now that the Olympics are over.

Team USA did great, as always (not including the Men’s Basketball team, such an embarrassment). Upon watching the Olympics and thinking about everything they stand for… I believe the IOC should adopt a policy that if you don’t allow women to participate (at least try to make a country’s Olympic team) that they should not be allowed to participate at all. The IOC will exclude countries from participation if the country’s Olympic Committee refuses to play against certain countries or races… what’s the difference between that discrimination and the discrimination they show towards women?? Yes, I realize it’s a religion thing, but that still doesn’t make it right. Plenty of “Islamic” states allow women to participate. Anyway, just my $.02!
