You, Me & Dupree

This movie was better than I expected. When I saw the preview in the theater, I thought they had shown all the funny parts and that I would be regretting my decision to see this movie. Well, I was wrong. What was most interesting to me about this movie was that it dealt with guys and their friends vs. the typical girls and their friends. I’m not really sure what else I can say about it. It obviously wasn’t the best movie I’ve ever seen but it was at least entertaining. I figure, if you’ve seen the trailer, you know exactly what this movie is about so I’m not going to give a synopsis of the film. I can’t really recommend that you go out and see this movie in the theater unless you were already planning on doing so. Needless to say, if you do see this film in the theater, you won’t be disappointed in the decision.

I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.

BB7 – All-Stars – Week 1

So, I figure I should be posting about BB7 since my journal name is TlvsnJunkie.  Here goes…

Week 1:

Here are our All-Stars – Alison (BB4), Danielle (BB3), Diane (BB5), Erika (BB4), George (BB1), Howie (BB6), James (BB6), Janelle (BB6), Jase (BB5), Kaysar (BB6), Marcellas (BB3), Mike (BB2), Nakomis (BB5), Will (BB2).

Now, I find it interesting that Will was let back into the house.  He was the winner of BB2.  What I also find strange is that the other house guests don’t seem to perceive him as a big threat yet.  Did none of them watch BB2??  Even if they didn’t, wouldn’t you want to evict someone who has already won??  I’m just not sure why he was not the first one nominated for eviction.

Week 1 had a surprise for the house guests.  Instead of having the normal single HOH for the week, they were going to have two!  So, they proceed to play the first HOH competition.  The first HOH competition is always pretty easy and the tradition was kept alive.  The winners of the HOH this week are Jase and Janelle.  This is good news for all you S6 (Season 6) fans because we learned from the very beginning that the other house guests want to see season 6 gone.  They believe they are in some sort of alliance (which, for the most part, they are).  By the end of the first episode, the HOHs had to nominate two house guests for eviction and if they failed to agree on who that was, they would become the nominees themselves.  Jase and Janelle nominated Danielle and Allison for eviction.  These two were nominated because they started playing the game hardcore, right off the bat.  Danielle started stirring the pot by bringing up the idea that Jase should not agree with Janelle so that they would both go up on the block and the house could vote out Janelle.  Now, Danielle never committed to doing this but she just brought the idea up.  This is how she worked in BB3 and it worked well back then.  Having Allison in the house this season made for problems though.  Allison takes ideas and runs with them at full speed.  Within minutes the whole house knew of this plan and so did the HOHs.  Because she came up with the idea, Danielle was nominated.  Because she ran with the idea hardcore, Allison was nominated.  Who would go?  Would the Power of Veto (POV) come into play?

POV Competition:

Contestants: Janelle, Jase, Danielle, Allison, George, Kaysar

For the first time in BB history, the two extra competitors in the POV competition would be chosen at random by a wheel.

The first POV competition this season was a grueling one.  Contestants had to jump into a huge pile of trash to find veto symbols and a total of 6 would win it.  This seemed like it would be easy but it turned out to be harder than it looked.  After all was said and done, Janelle came out on top with the POV.  Again, this is good news for S6 fans because the nominations can stay in place.

Eviction:

This weeks eviction was an important one.  Two very good players are on the block.  I personally want to see Allison leave because I still can’t forget how she acted in BB4.  I also found her attitude to be just as annoying this season as it was 3 years ago.  She is so fake and lies so easily that she’s extremely dangerous.  Danielle, it’s been 4 years since I saw her play, so I’m not too worried about her right now.  She is ok to keep in the house for a few more weeks, I think.  Besides, she could be a very good ally for the S6 alliance.  The gods looked down on me with favor and had Allison leaving the house with a vote of 8 – 2 (an overwhelming majority).  Some of the players who voted to keep Allison in the house are questioning what the other players outside of the S6 alliance are thinking.  They feel that the best bet would have been to keep Allison in the house to help them take down the S6 alliance.

This season is shaping up to be one of the best in BB history.  Keep checking back here for updates.  I’ll try to do them after each show so that you know what I’m thinking.  Most of these posts will be my opinion vs a summary (like this first one was).  You can watch all the episodes on CBS.com for free.  Catch up and start watching live with me on Sunday night!!

New Logo

So, the Anaheim Mighty Ducks have changed their name and their logo. They are now the Anaheim Ducks and they changed their team colors. They wanted to be more “hip” and wanted to distance themselves from their old owners, Disney. Anyway, the new logo is below, you judge for yourself. I think it’s crappy, the colors are crappy, and it’s crappy that they decided to change things up just to be “cool”.

OH MY GOD.

Just a small gripe… People who have me carry their debt. I am a good friend in many ways. One of these ways is paying for things for a group so that it is just easier for us all. Well, some people have begun to abuse this and I’ve been carrying their debt for a while now. Now, normally, if this was a small amount, then I wouldn’t mind so much but when it’s $100+ it gets to be annoying. What else gets to be annoying… when they repeatedly say “you have a good job, you can afford it.” First of all, that’s not the point. Second, You have no idea what my finances are so how can you say that?

Anyway, just a small vent for today. Drinking a Molson Ice to cool down and end the day on a good note (I forgot how much I enjoy the Molson brand).

Two Movies

Ok, so these movies are on the old side but this is the first time I have been able to watch them.

Cold Mountain – Wow, this truely is a good film. I didn’t have high hopes since I’m not a big Nicole Kidman fan but this movie was great. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend you do.

The Station Agent – This movie snuck up on me. What I mean by this is that I didn’t really apreciate what it was about until it was over. I mentioned to a friend that I wish I could have hangout friends like that… minus the perscription drug problem.

Ok, there’s my post on the two movies I watched at home this wekend. Look for more of these in the future.

Getting A Battery

So, I’m sitting here at Sears waiting for them to install a new battery in my car. The test that was run on the battery said it didn’t have long to live so I figured I’d get one and be safe. Don’t need the bastard stranding me somewhere.

Now, you’re probably wondering, “why didn’t he just install it himself?” Truth be told, I was going to before Sears told me it would cost $12. That $12 is well worth not having to get all dirty as well as not having to stand out in the 100+ degree heat.

They have 5 minutes to get it to me by the promised time. We’ll see.

Owning a car is fun!!

Pirates and more!!

SO! I just returned from “The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and I must say that it’s a great sequel. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. The plot sort of meandered on, which made the movie seem long. That is never a good thing. Other than that, they definitely left it wide open for “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” which is a plus but also sort of sucks!

Anyway, the other big news is that there is a preview for Transformers that you MUST watch now! Oh man, that movie has potential and I can’t wait for the 4th of July 2007!!!!

Oh, and if you’re fortunate enough to live in a city that is playing “A Scanner Darkly” please post a comment with your review. I really think that movie is going to be something special.

I need your help!

So this is only viewable by friends because only a select few are friends on LJ. So I need your advice.

I got the invitation to the wedding yesterday. What should I do? What would you do in my situation?

I’m 70/30 RSVP-ing no.

This is the wedding with the crappy jackass who is being an ass to me and is currently not speaking to me at all.
