Restaurants

So, what I was doing while at work today was researching restaurants in the Phoenix area. I was looking specifically for places that have food for under $20 as I am dirt poor but, I still want to go out every so often. I also wanted to shy away from the chains and explore what Phoenix has to offer. I mean, we’re a city of almost 3 million, there’s bound to be good eats somewhere!

I found some very interesting places that I’ll have to check out with friends in the near future. Here’s a small list:

- Cibo – Italian pizza joint in a historic 1920s home.
- Albuquerque Tortilla Co. – based in Albuquerque, NM, they offer the best in New Mexican cuisine (even in take home and reheat containers… Score!).
- Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles – no explination needed.
- Coronado CafĂ© – good old fashioned home cooking.
- Fry Bread House – Indian Native American fry bread done in many different ways, not just dessert.
- Mrs. Whites Golden Rule Cafe – Soul Food!!

Once I visit these places, I’ll give my own reviews for you all here.

Empire Records

Question: Why have I never seen this film? Why did I put it on my Netflix Queue? Hmmm… not really sure the answer to those questions but I’m glad I did put it on my queue. This movie is just good. I don’t know how else to explain it. If you have never seen this film, I highly recommend you watch it soon. I guarantee you’ll be entertained by it.

Ok, that’s all for now. Today was a day of lounging around and watching mindless movies. I believe I was highly successful.

On the Job

So I’m here at work waiting for this program to install on a new server test box that I’ve been given. Its sort of cool that I’ve been able to get what I want for a change at the job. Anyway, it’s stuck on task 8 of 10, at least I think it is. The disk sems to be having some activity but who knows.

Anyway, since I can’t use the internet to post to my journal at the moment, I’m doing it from my sidekick.

Voting and other things…

So, I got my new voter registration card today. They’ve done us all a favor (since now you have to provide your card as well as ID when going to vote) by making the cards out of this laminated paper type material. These will definitely last longer than the older paper versions. It says here that I registered to vote on 8/10/1999. I wonder why I waited so long after my 18th Birthday to register?

On a different subject. I get Proctor & Gamble coupons in the mail every once in a while. What’s interesting to note about them is that they are in both English and Spanish. Now, that’s not really something that is strange to see here in AZ but what I find strange about them is that the Spanish is more prevalent than the English. Seriously, on some of the coupons it takes me quite some time to actually figure out what the coupon is saying because the English is so small. Oh well. I wonder if people in other parts of the city get this version or if in the more Non-Hispanic areas they get all English versions? Hmmm…
