Notice-giving

OK, today I had to give notice at my current job that I was going to be leaving on 11/10. Let me just say that, unless you hate your job, this is never an easy thing to do. The worst part about today was the wait. I had to wait to give notice until I got confirmation from Swift that they were still going to hire me. That confirmation didn’t come until 3 PM. I had to pretend that everything was cool from 8 – 3… yeah, that wasn’t easy.

Anyway, it’s all done now. 2 weeks, then I start a new job. Tomorrow I get to go and piss in a cup! Woo hoo!!

Old Job, New Job!

Hey everyone! Guess who has a new job?! That would be me. Actually, I’m going to stop referring to it as a “job” because it’s going to be my career!

Monday is notice day at my old job… that should be interesting.

Stranger Than Fiction

This movie is EXCELLENT! Oh man, so much better than I thought it was going to be. It’s not really a “HA HA HA” comedy but there are funny parts. It’s more of a dramatic comedy… which doesn’t make sense! Let me see, can’t really give away the movie, but the whole story is well written. The acting is top notch! Some parts of the movie are a bit slow, but it doesn’t drag down the movie. It’s sweet, raw, and funny. I highly recommend you view this film when it comes to a theater near you. Once you see the movie and email me, I’ll let you know how I felt about the ending.

How I Busy Myself

Ok, below is a thumbnail (click for full res pic) that will lead to a larger picture of what I work on at work when I’m trying ot keep myself busy. I have to do the company Intranet. This is a mock up of what the final product will look like coming the first of the year. I have to create some more branding but this is the IT page. I work on this page because it’s the department I know the most about. Anyway, comments/suggestions on what else I can add to this page to make it more user friendly? What about things that you would possibly use as an end user?

Cardinals

So, I went to the football game between the Arizona Cardinals and Chicago Bears on Monday night. Needless to say, the Cardinals lost. What’s really bad about them losing was the way they did it. Cardinals were up 20 – 0 at the half and we go on to lose it 23 – 24 at the very end of the game… on a missed field goal.

STOP RUNNING THE DAMN BALL. LET MATT THROW AND CALL HIS OWN PLAYS!!

On that note, good job Matt! Hopefully the Cardinals coaching staff will remember that you led USC to two National Championships… USC teams that could easily beat the AZ Cardinals. Keep up the good work Matt! Hopefully you can save this team from mediocrity!!

Work Shitty-ness!!

Ok, here’s the work SHIT story…

Friday, October 6th 2006…

My boss calls me into his office around 9.10am. I am told that the CIO of the company is not happy with the amount of time I’m spending on the Internet and IMing. It doesn’t look like I’m busy. He doesn’t want to have to go to bat for me if someone higher up the chain questions why they are paying someone not to do anything. Ok, I understand that. It makes sense to me. What doesn’t make sense to me is his accusation that all I ever do is use the Internet and IM people. Not true! The CIO has been in my region of the office maybe 5 times in the last month. Well, I guess if those 5 times I have been on the Internet that constitutes all I do at work.

Ok, it’s no secret that I’m bored out of my mind at work. They know it because I’ve told them. They know I don’t have anything to do. Back to the meeting…

So, I ask my boss, “What do you want me to do?” “How about you find something to do to keep you busy.” WHAT?!? You’re my boss! You’re supposed to delegate to me! If I could come up with something to do, I would. Obviously there’s nothing to do, that’s why I am easily distracted by the INTERNET! JESUS.

Anyway, I told him that I would be more concientious of when I use the internet, etc. I told him that there was no way I could completely stop using the Internet and requesting that of me was unfair considering everyone else in the office gets to use it. I think he understands where I’m coming from. But! At the very end of the meeting he goes… “Oh, by the way. Remember that training we were going to send you to so you could take over some of the SAP overflow?” “Yeah?” “Well, it’s not in the budget this year so it’s not going to happen.” WHAT!??!!? Wait! You’re telling me it was in the budget back in July of this year but come October, the money magically disappeared?????? GREAT! One of the few things that would have probably kept me from being on the Internet ALL THE TIME is now not an option. WTF. I’m getting these stupid mixed signals from the management at work.

Anyway, in my passive agressive wisdom, I decided to help the office temp out with all her duties today. Yup, I turned into a $20+ an hour temp! WOO! Fuckers. Now I’m just waiting for the meeting where they ask me “why are you doing that work?” That day will be a bad, bad day.

So, anyway, I’m not bitching because I was told not to use the Internet. I think you guys can see that. NEEDLESS to say, I’m starting up the job search again. This is just fucked up shit and I need to get out of there if they are going to continue to be retarded like this.

I need some advice though. I’m the only one in the IT dept who’s computer screen can be viewed just by walking by my cube. Should I change the orientation of my monitor so that you can’t view the screen by just walking by? I realize that if I do this right away, there will be no question as to why I’m doing it. So, how long should I wait to do it, if I should even do it at all?

My Shitty Week

Let me start by stating that this week was full of potential. Every night this week I had something planned except for Monday night. Below is the week how it should have been.

  • Monday – Laundry (yeah, lame)
  • Tuesday – Jonny Lang Concert
  • Wednesday – Movie Sneak Preview
  • Thursday – Coyotes Game
  • Friday – Movie (The Departed)

——————————————————————-

Here’s how the week actually happened…

  • Monday – Laundry (so far, so good)
  • Tuesday – Receipt mistaken for extra ticket to Jonny Lang concert so I didn’t actually even have a ticket to the event. No concert for me.
  • Wednesday – Due to complications with time management (not mine) this event was not able to be attended.
  • Thursday – So fed up with how the week was going and since the tickets were free, decided to go home and veg in front of the TV instead.
  • Friday – Movie (The Departed) but had a shitty day at work which I cannot explain in this public forum. See friend post about it (if you’re my friend here).

So, overall, it was a disastrous week. This weekend should be awesome though. Oktoberfest on Saturday and NFL Football game on Sunday.
