Interesting Meeting – Update!

This is an update to the story posted here.

As I suspected, my old boss was looking for someone to come in and breath life into the company Intranet. When I worked for this company, I was the only person that knew how the site worked and how to update data. The company Intranet was the one thing that kept me from being completely bored. Of course, there were things that I hated about being the sole person in charge of the Intranet. Everyone wanted fresh, new content on the site but no one was willing to give me any ideas as to what they wanted to see on the various pages. Basically, I was asked to try and figure out what each department would want to have and see on their respective pages. It was not fun and made the whole Intranet a tedious beast to deal with on a daily/weekly basis.

Anyway, my old boss wants me to do some work on the site again (after 1.5 years) and I told him that the only way I would do that was if I had a clear understanding of what each department wanted to get from their pages and basically had a road map for the whole project. He seemed agreeable to it but who knows. I’m not sure how long it’ll take them to come up with all this information but I’m not holding my breath. If something materializes in the next few weeks, I’ll be sure to let you all know. :)

WiiFit

Yesterday my WiiFit arrived via UPS. I am so excited! Mike and I set up our Miis and set our goals last night. I have a month to gain a few pounds (of muscle) to meet my goal. We’ll see if it’s possible. So far, I’ve done a few aerobic exercises and tried out a balance game. Today, I think I’ll try a regular training routine (that you have to make up yourself, unfortunately.) I’ll most likely post an update towards the end of the 30 days and let you all know how it goes.

Weather Craziness

Today is Thursday.  The high temperature was 72.  Tuesday, the high was 108 and yesterday the high was 95.  What?!  This is just all sorts of crazy.  At least this weekend looks like it will be nice a cool in the valley.  I’d much rather have this weather than a Memorial Weekend where the average tempearture hovers around 110.

FTP Issue Update

Success!  It only took GoDaddy 2 weeks but they finally fixed my FTP issue.  Here’s the thing, the way they fixed the problem was to move my site to a new server.  So, why couldn’t they have done that when I first called?  Anyway, I really can’t complain too much.  I have my FTP capabilities back and I am now able to post my Friday’s Songs again.  Keep your eyes open for a special Friday’s Song later today.  The regular installment will begin again this Friday (tomorrow)

Interesting Meeting

I’m going to be having an interesting meeting with my former boss at lunch today.  He contacted me because he wanted to discuss an opportunity.

So, here’s the issue that I have with the whole thing, he isn’t being forthcoming on what the opportunity is.  Not that I’m worrying about what he’s going to propose or anything.  I’m afraid that he’s going to ask me to do something that I can’t actually do and I’ll be wasting my time with this meeting.  For example, crazy programming or advanced HTML coding.  I cherish my lunch hours and I kind of can’t stand my old boss, so this meeting won’t be fun.  An update will be forthcoming.

John McCain on SNL – AZ Jokes

John McCain was on SNL this past weekend. He did a small monologue and kind of made me laugh. The Arizona jokes are funny. I have included the clip for you viewing pleasure below.

And he follows up this monologue with another appearance on Weekend Update. Amusing.

Benevolent Blogger Project Update

Last Thursday I was paid… that means time to give to another worthy cause.

This period, I have decided to donate to Equality Arizona. The mission of Equality Arizona is to secure, protect and defend the rights and welfare of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Arizona. Currently, Equality Arizona is looking for funds to fight SCR-1042 which is currently in the Arizona Senate waiting to be voted on. If this bill makes it through the Senate, it will be on the November ballot. Arizona has already answered the question about same-sex marriage and domestic partner benefits. Read more at Equality Arizona. The official statement can be found here.

Check my Benevolent Blogger Project page for an up to date list of all the causes I have contributed to. Also, more information on the whole Benevolent Blogger Project can be found at Mike’s website.

Parking Spot

Thursday I returned from lunch and someone had parked in my spot at work! WTF!? Who does that? It’s clearly lunch break, not 3pm when it’s entirely possible that someone has left for the day. Called security and got them to move it.  That’ll teach ‘em.
