Illegal College Grads – What are they to do?
Feb 27th
The story linked below was on the front page of the Arizona Republic’s website this morning. First, I find it amusing that they don’t allow comments on that story. It think that they’ve had enough of the hate speech that usually accompanies these stories.
Anyway, for my opinion on this whole thing. It’s difficult to take a one sided position on a subject like this, at least for me. On one hand, you don’t want to reward bad behavior and the whole DREAM Act in Congress does just that. Some say it might even spur more illegal immigration, which is never a good idea. Obviously I don’t think it’s fair that these kids are being punished for a decision their parents made for them when they were very young, but what can I say?? It sucks, but that’s life sometimes.
How do we fix this problem? The US Government needs to readdress their immigration policy with Mexico. If so many Mexicans want to come to the United States to live and work, make it easier for them to do it legally. Why do there have to be so may hoops you have to jump through and years of waiting that needs to be done? Make it easier for people already living here illegally to go back to Mexico and reenter the country legally without having to wait years to do so. Instead of adding new policies to our already convoluted immigration system, let’s fix what we already have. I just don’t know why we can’t figure out how to fix what we already have vs. trying to create loopholes that will not solve anything and may even make things worse.
Okay, I’m done. Thoughts? The story is linked below.
Puppy Videos!
Feb 26th
I think I’ve posted the first video before but it can’t hurt to post it again!
This is Olive at 2 months old playing with her pig. Sadly, the pig is no longer with us.
In the video below, Olive is skeptical of her new brush. She’s still not used to it but I guess it’ll just take time.
Walmart and Target Take Over the USA
Feb 25th
I’m not sure if any of you have seen this yet but here are two animated maps that show Walmart and Target store openings across the USA since they began. It’s kind of cool to see how fast they pop up, especially in the 80s. The two maps are linked below Take a moment to check them out.
New Pepsi Logos and Other Pepsi News
Feb 24th

Above are the new Pepsi logos. It appears that many people are unhappy with the change. They think that it’s too drastic of a move and takes away from the classic Pepsi look that we’ve all grown up with. I can’t say that I hate or love the new logo, but I like the subtle differences they have made between the various types of Pepsi available. Notice how the regular Pepsi stripe is medium in size vs. the Diet Pepsi that is slimmer? That’s kind of cool. Of course, with Pepsi Max, a huge stripe only seems appropriate.
Some other complaints that I’ve heard about the new logo is that it looks too much like Obama’s logo or that it looks too much like Korean Airlines logo (yikes, it really does!). Should Pepsi have spent millions developing a new logo? I’m not sure. You can still tell that it’s Pepsi that you’re buying, so brand recognition isn’t going to be a problem. What do you think of the new look?
In other Pepsi news… Pepsi will release, in April, a product called Pepsi Throwback. This Pepsi will be available for a limited time and will contain real sugar vs. the high fructose corn syrup that is currently used in American soft drinks. They will also be releasing a Mountain Dew Throwback product during the same time. Personally, I cannot wait to buy this at the store. If you’ve never had Pepsi or Coke made with real sugar, you don’t know what you’re missing. Both products will be available for just over a month but I’m hoping they are successful enough that they may become a regular product in the Pepsi line.
