12 of 12 – August 2008

What is 12 of 12?

Enjoy the photos below and be sure to click the link above if you are wondering what “12 of 12″ is all about. The 12th this month was spent at work and then running my cousin around town before his flight out of PHX back to school in NY.

I had to setup my TiVo to record upcoming Olympic events.  I’m just a bit obsessed.

Work, Work, Work!!

Wow!  Almost 10:30 and it’s not 100 yet!  Amazing!

My friend Jenie.  She hates it when I take photos of her.  This is her “no photos please” pose.

Get out and vote (or do it from home)!

A trip to the Apple store to pick up a fixed macbook.  Did you know they’re expanding the Biltmore location?

Another stop at Unique on Central.  My cousin wanted to get some underwear.

Dinner at FEZ with the cousin and his friend.  I love this place!

What?!  Martinis are only $5 today?!  Yes please!

Just pulling some files off my system restore disc…

Dropping the cousin off at the airport.  Ithaca, NY via PHX-CLT-PHI = good times!

My TiVo decided to reboot in the middle of the Olympics!  WTF!!!

The Olympics Begin!

Yesterday the 2008 Summer Olympics began in Beijing.  As some of you probably know, I’m an Olympic nut!  I’ve gone to the past two Winter Olympic Games and I watch as much of the Olympic coverage on TV as I can.  This is both a good thing and a bad thing, especially since NBC has upped its coverage this year.  There will be more Olympic sports on TV this year than ever before.  So far, here’s how my viewing has gone.  Last night I watched the Opening Ceremonies (after spending a night out with some friends).  When I was done with that, the sports coverage on USA had already started – 7 hours of it!  I watched a women’s sabre fencing and started watching women’s badminton singles before going to bed (at 2am).  I woke up this morning and finished the badminton from the night before.  Already on my TiVo, I have 14 hours of Olympic coverage recording and I’ve gone through the Universal HD coverage from last night (men’s singles badminton and beach volleyball).  Currently, I am watching women’s beach vollyball and I believe there will be some fencing on later during this USA coverage session.  So yeah, can you say obsessed?  It’s okay though.  This only happens every two years.  What sports are you most excited to watch?

Another Video?

So, I had to share these videos.  These were taken back on August 4th at the Cubs/Astros game in Chicago.  The game was suspended for severe weather.  The videos below show what it was like before and during the almost tornado that hit the area.  The loud sirens in the background are the tornado warning sirens going off.  The announcer at the game told everyone in the stands to seek immediate shelter.  The entrances were closed and fans were kept from leaving for their own safety.  Kind of crazy.

Bored?

I’ve been posting a lot of videos.  I hope this isn’t boring any of you.  I will start again with more text based posts soon!

Thanks for sticking with me and continuing to read!

Big Brother Earthquake

The earthquake that hit southern California this week was caught on camera at the Big Brother house.  See the raw clip below.  CBS featured it in Thursday night’s eviction show.

Jay Brannan

Jay Brannan released his album recently and I’ve listened to it a few times already.  It’s pretty good.  I’ve included a YouTube clip of “Housewife” which is one of my favorites from the album.  Check it out below.

Space Shuttle Launch

Here’s something I found on one of my reader feeds.  The video below is of a space shuttle launch as seen from an airplane.  Really kind of amazing from this perspective.

BB10 – Steven’s Goodbye Message

Poor Steven!  You weren’t even on the show for two weeks!  How sad.  Semi amusing farewell speech given by Steven on Wednesday night.  I’ve embeded it below.

Since I’m on the subject of Big Brother, let me just say that I hope Keesha puts up two people from the following list – April, Libra, Ollie, Jessie.  Fingers crossed!

Google Milestone

Google – Now searching one TRILLION unique URLs.

Interesting… all those sites and I still can’t find one that will help me to get a gmail authorization letter to successfully be accepted by Juno or, at least, a work around for my issue.

iPhone Weather… What!?

Okay, so I’m going to visit Costa Rica in late August and I figured it would be cool to have my iPhone weather app show me the weather in San Jose.  I started up the app, added San Jose, CR to the list, and waited for the update.  I was shocked to see the temperature in the 50s.  I thought to myself, no way!  It’s a rainforest!  How can it be that cold!?  For the last few weeks, I’ve just thought that I had some warped sense of what the temperature should be in San Jose, Costa Rica.

This past weekend I was in the car with Mike on our way to Las Vegas.  The temperature of Costa Rica came up.  Mike has been to San Jose, Costa Rica.  He mentioned that, when he was there (about the same time I’m going), the temperatures were in the 80s.  This got me thinking and today I decided to look up the temperature on Weather.com.  Guess what!?  The temperature in San Jose today was 82 degrees.  A far cry from the 52 that my iPhone was telling me.  So what gives?  The weather is supposed to be coming from Yahoo! but even on their weahter site, the temp for San Jose differs greatly from what the iPhone says.  Has anyone seen strange behaviors when it comes to the weather application?
