My Civic Duty

I have jury duty beginning tomorrow. Fun. It’s supposed to last for a week and a half but we’re only doing afternoon sessions. At least I won’t fall behind at work!

Thanks Uncle Sam!

I don’t want to brag but Uncle Sam was very generous this year. It mostly had to do with all my real estate holdings, but I’m not complaining!

Sadly, I won’t be able to splurge with my refund. I need to save it for mortgage coverage as I try to rent my condo again.

Was This Clearly Written?

I have to post tickets for things to get corrected at work with the IT programmers.  I programmed business rules in my old job so I kind of know how to include all the details that will be needed to complete the request.  Here’s an example of a ticket I opened the other week:

1.  Describe situation leading to the request and the business problem to be solved.
X-REF Entries are being truncated and causing rejections
2.  Detailed description of the enhancement.
The field in the X-REF table is too small to accommodate the location code required by the customer on the 210.  We need to send the complete code to keep these invoices from being rejected.
Example:
7854685
In the example above, the XREF entry for the consignee is DEMAND POINT(ALAM when what the customer needs to see is DEMAND POINT(ALAMEDA)
The response I got back from the IT department was that they needed more information.  They were not sure what the problem was.  Maybe I’m blind or something but the details I gave about the problem define it pretty well.  What else could I possibly have said?  So, I responded by just copying and pasting the same text from my original ticket into the request for more info from IT.  We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.  *Sigh*

March – 12 of 12 – Vegas Baby!

Here are my 12 of 12 photos for March.  We went to Las Vegas for my cousin’s birthday.  Needless to say, these photos could have been insane but I was more interested in drinking than photo taking.  Oh well!   Here they are…

Packing up the crates.  The dogs were going to spend the weekend with my sister.

This is our library!  We just put it together last week.  It’s definitely coming along!

Traffic on our way out of PHX was heavier than I expected.  The construction didn’t help.

Our friends Hollie and Paige.  What a beautiful photo!

This part of the drive is designated as the Joshua Tree Scenic Highway.  Too bad I didn’t get any photos of Joshua trees.

Mike took this excellent photo as we were slowly heading towards Hoover Dam.  1.5 hours just to get to the checkpoint.  Yuck.

Once they finish up this bridge, the trip to Vegas will be speedy!

The view from our room in The Fitzgerald Hotel and Casino on Freemont Street.

Mike is relaxing before we head down to get our drink on.

My friend Hollie brought her baby on the trip, a bottle of Jack.  She didn’t even crack it open the entire trip!

Mike played this big slot machine in the NYNY Hotel and Casino.  The electronic sign is laughing.

Hollie and I at the Nine Fine Irishmen pub in the NYNY Hotel and Casino.  I love this place but it is soo expensive.  We were already drunk from our adventures in downtown Las Vegas so that helped with the tab at this joint.

There you have it, the 12th of March in Las Vegas, NV.

I’m Back…

Yeah, so I have been slacking on my posting recently.  Sorry folks.  I will have my 12 of 12 for March up later today.  Until then, tell me what’s wrong with this image.

In Vancouver

I’m in Vancouver enjoying the Olympics.  I had a fiasco with my work blackberry and was cut off from data, but it appears that everything may be back to normal.  Let’s hope so and fingers crossed.  Anyway, if you follow me on twitter, you can get some updates when I’m at Hockey and the Medals Ceremony tomorrow evening.  I may even twitpic!  Anyway, having a great time and more photos will come but here’s one to tide you over until then.

The Trip Begins

Tomorrow I will be heading to the PNW to begin my Olympic adventure for 2010.  I can’t believe how quickly this date has arrived.  I’m super excited and can’t wait until Friday when we head to Vancouver.  Throughout my trip, I’m going to try and post a photo or two here for you to enjoy.  Of course, after I return I will have many pictures and maybe a few videos to share.  Vancouver 2010 is here!

Backyard – Complete!

Yesterday they finished the backyard!  Finally!  Now the dogs have some place to run and play off leash and do their business without us having to be right next to them 100% of the time.  I’m so happy!  Here are pictures of the back yard before and after.  :)
