New Blog Theme

Today I felt like I needed to put a fresh coat of paint, so to speak, on my blog. The original theme was nice but I just felt that it was lacking something. I did some research on the net today and found this current theme I’m using. Here it is, in all it’s glory. I hope you enjoy the new look of the site. Comments are always welcome.  If you’re reading this on an RSS Reader/Aggregator, click here to view the new design.

Oh, and a big shout out to Mike for helping me to get the background image just right with his mad PS skills.

Google Maps – A Response

This is a response post to a post written by Mike at What Some Would Call Lies.

Mike doesn’t think that using “Google It” works for the mapping functionality that Google provides through their Google Maps product. I disagree. As you can see by the examples below, you can “Google” an address and get the map (as well as a field for getting driving directions to the location you just Googled).

In my opinion, “Google It” works as a mapping verb as well as a general searching/research verb.

Windows Live Writer (part 2)

Ok, so I’m writing this post from Windows Live Writer software.  I used to use this for posting to LiveJournal until I found that it was less than perfect.  So, how does it work with WordPress?  Not sure since I can’t actually see how this shows up until I publish it.  Hopefully this will work as it will make creating posts much easier.

Here’s an icon that Mike created for me.  Isn’t it cool?

My Most Favorite Thing

This morning I got up a little early to do my most favorite thing… iron.  I really do hate that chore.  I think my hatred is a result of the fact that I am pretty bad at it.  Needless to say, I survived and it’s all done.  Getting up a bit earlier this morning was not a waste of precious sleep time though.  I have a meeting at work today at 9 that I can’t afford to be late for.  Now I know I’ll have plenty of time to get ready and get there on time.

On another note, I’m really loving this new blog.  There are so many options when it comes to customizing, posting, etc.  Keep your eyes open for more interesting things to come (once I get the hang of it).

Lunchtime Quickie

I’m at lunch sitting outside of Starbucks so I can use my T-Mobile HotSpot subscription.  I’ve spent a majority of my hour updating my posts with categories and also fixing the YouTube issues.  It is taking a while but will be worth it.

Anyway, today has been a typical Monday with not much going on at the office.  I’m waiting to hear back on the training documentation that I turned in on Friday.  I really would like to get feedback from the EDI Coordinator before I turn it in to be used in the training classes.  Nothing so far, but maybe she’s busy?

I really should be getting back.  I have a few things I need to finish up before I can leave today.  Hopefully I can peace out a bit early.  I want to get my haircut and getting in around 5pm usually means there will be no wait.  Fingers crossed!

New Location

Ok, so with the help of Mike, I have now moved to my own domain.  LiveJournal just wasn’t doing it for me anymore.  Many changes to come to this site (the first being the theme) in the very near future.  I have to go through my posts and categorize them, which will take some time.  Hopefully I can get some done during my lunch break tomorrow while I sit outside of Starbucks.

New Design

So, I was kind of bored and thought, heck, I need to redesign this site. I am kind of disappointed that LiveJournal doesn’t offer more options when it comes to their free accounts. I am not sure if I will stay here or if I will move to my own personal site so I have more control.Thoughts on the redesign? How about thoughts on moving to a new location? All are welcome!

Another Year Gone

This will be short and sweet but I was reminded that I have been neglecting my LJ. I guess it’s a good thing that I didn’t make one of my New Year’s Resolutions to be more regular with my LJ posts, right?

So, 2007 is gone and 2008 is here. I think it’s amusing when you hear people say good riddance to the previous year. Was it really the worst year ever? As many of you know, 2007 was probably one of the most difficult years for me (so far) in my short life. Do I think it was the worst year ever? Not necessarily. Obviously there are things that happened that I wish hadn’t, but when has a year ever passed that you don’t feel like that is the case? In 2007, I grew immensely as a person and, I believe, I learned more about who ‘Daniel’ is. For this, I am grateful.

With that being said… Goodbye 2007! Thank you for all you gave me, good and bad. Welcome 2008! I eagerly await what you have in store for me.
