So, to further the education of my fellow readers, here is a link to a page that LiveJournal has setup for our favorite part of the English language; Homonyms!
Also, here’s a small rant about the use of the “apostrophe s”… enjoy!
Contraction Form – The cat’s out of the bag.
Possessive Form – The cat’s feet are out of the bag.
Plural – All the cat’s are out of the bag. << WRONG! INCORRECT! WHERE’D YOU LEARN THIS!? STOP DOING IT!!! >>
Some POPULAR but INCORRECT rules:
1. When pluralizing a word that ends with a vowel, add an “apostrophe s.” (WRONG)
2. When pluralizing any other word, add an “apostrophe s.” (WRONG)
3. Add an “apostrophe s” whenever you feel like it. (Surprisingly, this is also wrong)
Ok, now that I have educated you on common homonym misusage and the consistant misusage of the “apostrophe s”, please take the time to proof read your written material. Remember, it will save you from looking like a complete and utter moron.
