A Car, a Parking Lot and a Douche-bag
Jan 11th
Today I was at Lowes doing some shopping for the house. I needed a new thermostat, some light bulbs and garage door clickers (which aren’t compatible with my opener!). When I came out of the store, I noticed that there was something funky about the front of my car. When I got closer, I realized that someone had backed into or driven into the drivers side bumper of my car. It totally squished the plastic bumper and bent the fender. The worst thing about it is that there was no note! This person just hit my car and left. WTF?! Who does that, especially with this amount of damage? The good news, I guess, is that there is minimal paint damage and the hood is not touched. Hopefully the financial damage will be minimal as well. We’ll see. On another good note, you can’t really tell there is anything wrong with the car upon first glance.
Anyway, I wasn’t really planning on posting before tomorrow’s 12 of 12 but I couldn’t let this go without a post. See you all tomorrow!
My New Car
Apr 19th
Okay, so I’ve owned this car for about a month now but I finally found the time to take a picture and post about it here on my blog. Here it is! My new 2010 Mazda3 5-Door also known as the Olive Mobile since she has her own space in the back-back now! I love it… Even more than my old Mazda3 and, if you knew how much I enjoyed that car, you know it’s a big deal.

Why I Hate Speed Cameras
Nov 29th
Here’s the main reason why I hate the speed cameras we now have on the freeways here in Arizona. The speed limit on this part of the freeway is 65 MPH. The cameras won’t take your picture until you surpass the 75 MPH mark. Because of these cameras, the max speed that anyone is driving on the freeway is below the posted speed limit (and this is when there is NO TRAFFIC). I cannot begin to tell you how much this annoys me. Ugh! Thanks Arizona!!

Fuel Frog – Update
Nov 27th
I use Fuel Frog to track my fuel consumption. Not too bad considering my lead foot.

Since we’re on the subject of gasoline, I can’t remember the time that I spent just over $20 to fill my take. Wow.
Parking Spot
May 18th

Thursday I returned from lunch and someone had parked in my spot at work! WTF!? Who does that? It’s clearly lunch break, not 3pm when it’s entirely possible that someone has left for the day. Called security and got them to move it. That’ll teach ‘em.
Smart Car
Mar 22nd
So, have you seen any of the 2000 smart cars that have been delivered so far driving around town? Here’s how much I would spend on either of the two that I would seriously think about purchasing.
Fortwo Passion Coupe

Fortwo Passion Cabriolet

Maybe some day? I just paid off my Mazda3 and I’m enjoying the “no car payment” feel. I’m not looking forward to upgrading anytime soon (can you even consider this an upgrade?). Would any of you seriously consider purchasing one of these small cars? They only get 36 MPG in mixed usage driving. Not stellar.
Some Car Things
Mar 16th
First, this weekend I had a flat. It could have ruined the day, but thanks to AAA, all was well. Unfortunately, Discount Tire does not have a replacement in stock and so one will need to be ordered. I’ll be driving on the donut until Wednesday! Yikes!
Second, I got an email from the MVD reminding me that my registration expires on 4/15. Good times. At least it’s not too much for one year of Registration (see image). Interesting that I got an email though. I don’t recall ever setting that feature up. It’s a nice reminder and I’m glad they give me all the information up front without making me sign in to Service Arizona. Time to setup a reminder in Google Calendar so I don’t forget to pay it.
My Car
Feb 27th
Well, just an FYI, I now own my car. It’s kind of a great feeling. Now… what to do with that extra $275 every month… ;)

Having a car… $$$
Mar 29th
Just paid my registration for the next year. $177 – substantially less than last year but still kind of ridiculous! Anyway, just wanted to share that. News from my trip to the UK will be forthcoming. Keep your eyes open for it.
Getting A Battery
Jul 8th
So, I’m sitting here at Sears waiting for them to install a new battery in my car. The test that was run on the battery said it didn’t have long to live so I figured I’d get one and be safe. Don’t need the bastard stranding me somewhere.
Now, you’re probably wondering, “why didn’t he just install it himself?” Truth be told, I was going to before Sears told me it would cost $12. That $12 is well worth not having to get all dirty as well as not having to stand out in the 100+ degree heat.
They have 5 minutes to get it to me by the promised time. We’ll see.
Owning a car is fun!!
