Parking Spot

Sunday, May 18, 2008 | 21:36

Thursday I returned from lunch and someone had parked in my spot at work! WTF!? Who does that? It’s clearly lunch break, not 3pm when it’s entirely possible that someone has left for the day. Called security and got them to move it.  That’ll teach ‘em.

Smart Car

Saturday, March 22, 2008 | 10:00

So, have you seen any of the 2000 smart cars that have been delivered so far driving around town? Here’s how much I would spend on either of the two that I would seriously think about purchasing.

Fortwo Passion Coupe
Passion Coupe

Fortwo Passion Cabriolet
Cabriolet

Maybe some day? I just paid off my Mazda3 and I’m enjoying the “no car payment” feel. I’m not looking forward to upgrading anytime soon (can you even consider this an upgrade?). Would any of you seriously consider purchasing one of these small cars? They only get 36 MPG in mixed usage driving. Not stellar.

Some Car Things

Sunday, March 16, 2008 | 10:43

First, this weekend I had a flat. It could have ruined the day, but thanks to AAA, all was well. Unfortunately, Discount Tire does not have a replacement in stock and so one will need to be ordered. I’ll be driving on the donut until Wednesday! Yikes!

registrationSecond, I got an email from the MVD reminding me that my registration expires on 4/15. Good times. At least it’s not too much for one year of Registration (see image). Interesting that I got an email though. I don’t recall ever setting that feature up. It’s a nice reminder and I’m glad they give me all the information up front without making me sign in to Service Arizona. Time to setup a reminder in Google Calendar so I don’t forget to pay it.

My Car

Wednesday, February 27, 2008 | 7:18

Well, just an FYI, I now own my car.  It’s kind of a great feeling.  Now… what to do with that extra $275 every month… ;)

Having a car… $$$

Thursday, March 29, 2007 | 6:44

Just paid my registration for the next year. $177 - substantially less than last year but still kind of ridiculous! Anyway, just wanted to share that. News from my trip to the UK will be forthcoming. Keep your eyes open for it.

Getting A Battery

Saturday, July 8, 2006 | 13:11

So, I’m sitting here at Sears waiting for them to install a new battery in my car. The test that was run on the battery said it didn’t have long to live so I figured I’d get one and be safe. Don’t need the bastard stranding me somewhere.

Now, you’re probably wondering, “why didn’t he just install it himself?” Truth be told, I was going to before Sears told me it would cost $12. That $12 is well worth not having to get all dirty as well as not having to stand out in the 100+ degree heat.

They have 5 minutes to get it to me by the promised time. We’ll see.

Owning a car is fun!!

Gas

Thursday, September 1, 2005 | 20:14

Gas prices are on the rise! It’s getting a bit ridiculous! $2.99 is the current price here in good old Phx, AZ. They say it’ll only go higher and that we may not get any relief until after October! AHHHH! I’ll just have to suck it up and get by.

Anyway, it’s now September and the new season is starting. What season? TV Season! Can’t wait! I will update my thoughts on all the new shows and on some of my returning favorites!

I do recommend that everyone watch Prison Break on Fox. The show looks like it’s a winner!

Has It Really Been That Long???

Tuesday, June 29, 2004 | 17:22

Wow! The Highly Anticipated update to my journal is finally here!!!

Ok, to catch you up on stuff….

This weekend = BUSY! Saturday (ok, Sat wasn’t busy at all, but I have to start somewhere) I got up early to was my car before the heat of the day (yeah right, it was already hot at 8am) and then I took a nap… because I was tried from getting up so early… then I went to see Dodgeball (sucked *more to come below*). Then, I got a call from my friend Jen who is starting Medical School at the U of A in August and has bought a house down in Tucson… so she needed some movers… ugh… Because I’m such a nice friend, I agreed to come over and help her load the truck and unload it down in Tucson. She was packing at the moment and just needed my help for the moving…

Sunday! Today is moving day… and the stuff was supposed to be packed at the apartment… and it wasn’t…. imagine that! Anyway, so I arrived there at 10am, we didn’t leave for Tucson until 3pm… I didn’t get home that night until 9.45pm… almost 12 hours of moving! Ahhh! It was only supposed to be a few hours!! Oh well… it was kinda fun…and it was cool seeing her house. I need one of them… planning on it within the next year… hopefully I’ll have one by this time next year!! Exciting!!

Just an interesting footnote that I thought of real quick… Molson Canadian is cheaper here in The States than in Canada, go figure.

This week… it’s going to be great. Granted, it’s half over, so I kinda know how it’s going to be turning out already, but whatever. So, #1 reason why this week will rock… Spider-Man is out! YEAH!! Totally awesome! Seeing it at the Cine Capri at 6.10 after work… already have my ticket and everything! What sucks is that movies at the Cine Capri cost more than at the other theatres in the same building! Yes, instead of $8 for the movie, it’s $9… I could have gotten it for $7.50 if I had remembered my student ID, damn it!

Other reasons why this week is going to rock… I get to see my friend Kaci from NAU for the first time in almost a year! How is it that two people can live in the same city, yet not make the time to get together more than once a year? How strange… Anyway, that’s going to be great, there is sooo much for us to catch up on and all that stuff. And when I mean we don’t see each other, I mean we don’t even call or email or anything… isn’t that weird? Maybe an IM every once in a while if we’re both on-line at the same time… but that’s rare! Another reason… This weekend is a long weekend! Who doesn’t love holiday weekends? What’s even better is that it’s the 4th of July weekend… probably the second best Holiday in my book. Of course, I know some people don’t feel that way, but that’s ok… I guess (j/k). Let me see.. what else is kick ass about this week… oh yeah, my supervisor is still in Hawaii working (or so we are to believe) and won’t be back until Thursday… that means a bit of slacking off at work is in order… yeah!! So yeah, this week kicks ass and is going to be great!

Another side note… I LOVE MY CAR!!

Now, on to the movies I have recently seen…

My scoring table: (a bit harsh?)

* crap
** ok, but still crap
*** rental worthy, a bit of crap
**** definitely recommend seeing on the big screen, but rental if you just can’t make it - no crap here.
***** if you don’t see this movie in the theatre, God will hate you. - Absolutely no crap here, you should probably even see this one twice.

Love Me If You Dare (Independent) **
Ok, the trailer for this movie made it look like it would actually be good. Oh My God. Ok, first of all, the movie is subtitled (unless you speak French) which means that the movie has to be relatively good to keep your interest. Nope, no interest here… and I actually got lost half way through… the story started out good but then it seemed like the writer lost his way and the story just went to pieces… crazy. I do not recommend seeing this movie at all… unless you can see it for free somehow.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story ***
Again, a movie that had an awesome trailer, but all the good parts are in the preview, save a few. So yeah, it was funny… but kind of dumb. Ben Stiller’s character reminded me too much of Zoolander (not a bad thing if you’re watching Zoolander). Also, some jokes were only funny if you are under the age of 12… I gave this movie 3 stars just because I think it’s ok to see in your own home, but I don’t believe that you should pay to see it in the theatre.

Saved! (Just saw it today!) ****
Ok, totally not what I expected this movie to be but it’s really good. There are funny parts, some hidden sexual references, etc… all well and good.. some nice poking fun of crazy Christian extremists… stereotyped people you would know if you attended a Christian school (i did, so it was even more funny and I can attest to the fact that it’s scarily accurate at times). But, this movie stuck to it’s title, not in a spiritual sense, but in just a general life sense… the life of a teenage girl, even a bit of what all teenagers go through during those awkward high school years. Anyway, I recommend seeing this movie in the theatre… it’s not as popular as it could have been so it’s exiting the theatres fast… so see it ASAP. Yeah, a great movie… all the elements of a good film… comedy (jokes, pranks, midgets, etc) and drama packaged together perfectly. I won’t lie, I have nothing to hide, some parts of this movie made me a bit watery eyed.. yup, exactly, how crazy is that?? (not so crazy when you can apply some situations to things that have happened to you or ppl you know in your life). Ok, enough of this, just go see it, you won’t be disappointed!

Spider-Man 2 - A REVIEW TO COME TOMORROW (I’m anticipating 5 star rating)

A Side Note - Again - DBacks Lose 11th Straight! Yeah! We Rock! On a happy note, Randy Johnson reached 4000 career strikeouts tonight! Amazing!!!

Oooo! Another side note - Britney Spears. WTF? Why would you marry someone who is having a child with another woman in the next few weeks?? What? What? What? I have no other words… What????

Ok, that’s all for this update, I believe. I can’t think of anything else….

A 4 Day Week!

Tuesday, June 1, 2004 | 18:08

I am sooooo glad this is a 4 day week. Tomorrow our project goes into production… not going to be good… very scary. Supposedly we’re going to start with the smallest part of the carrier and work our way up… but we’ll see. I’m just not looking forward to troubleshooting all the issues that may (will) make themselves known once we go live with this… I guess this will be the end of “boring” work weeks?

Anyway, the baseball game last night was pathetic… hardly anyone was there, it was super hot, and the time seemed to drag on forever! I seriously don’t know why I do it anymore… oh yeah, $9.50 an hour to do shit…

And I didn’t post yesterday, so here’s what happened yesterday…

Got up early to wash and wax my car… figured I’d better get up and do it before it got too hot out. So I was up and outside by 7am, and what do I notice… I have a flat tire… WTF?? I seriously only drove to Target on Sunday and the car has been sitting in the driveway since then… Turns out there was a Phillips head screw in the tire. I had to call around to about 8 different places before I found one that was open on the Holiday. Then I spent about an hour or so waiting to get it fixed… Then I got home and waxed my car… (I had washed it before I went to get the tire fixed because nothing opened until 8am or so anyway). After I got done waxing the car, I only had about 2 hours before I had to be down at the ballpark for work… So, my 3 day weekend turned into a 1 day weekend… not fun.

ok, that’s enough for one post. I’ve bored you enough! :)

Vegas Baby!

Tuesday, May 4, 2004 | 21:37

Yeah, what an AWESOME weekend. That town never gets old! It was one of my cheapest trips yet, only spent $120 on gambling, food, and liquor! Pretty good!! Anyway, SUPER tired, it was not a “relaxing” weekend.

Oh, btw, on our way back from Vegas, I got a warning for speeding! Yikes! The officer was cool though, he totally could have given me a ticket, but I guess he figured we weren’t going that fast after all, since most of the traffic was going along at about the same speed… and maybe he realized that we were actaully nice kids?? who knows… but no ticket, i’m happy! Just means I have to be extra careful now, because that warning will show up if I get pulled over again in the next few months… and that basically means an automatic ticket… ugh!!

OK! Gotta run… i’m sooooooo far behind in my tv watching it’s not even FUNNY!
