My Shitty Week

Let me start by stating that this week was full of potential. Every night this week I had something planned except for Monday night. Below is the week how it should have been.

  • Monday – Laundry (yeah, lame)
  • Tuesday – Jonny Lang Concert
  • Wednesday – Movie Sneak Preview
  • Thursday – Coyotes Game
  • Friday – Movie (The Departed)

——————————————————————-

Here’s how the week actually happened…

  • Monday – Laundry (so far, so good)
  • Tuesday – Receipt mistaken for extra ticket to Jonny Lang concert so I didn’t actually even have a ticket to the event. No concert for me.
  • Wednesday – Due to complications with time management (not mine) this event was not able to be attended.
  • Thursday – So fed up with how the week was going and since the tickets were free, decided to go home and veg in front of the TV instead.
  • Friday – Movie (The Departed) but had a shitty day at work which I cannot explain in this public forum. See friend post about it (if you’re my friend here).

So, overall, it was a disastrous week. This weekend should be awesome though. Oktoberfest on Saturday and NFL Football game on Sunday.

Changes…

Isn’t it strange how sometimes things just hit you like a ton of bricks? I guess life does that to you every once in a while.

Now, we all know that people move on with their lives. Sometimes this means that they have to move away. I guess the only thing we can hope for is to remain in contact with these people. I’m not sure why I’m feeling this way about the recent news of someone moving away. I’m not sure why it’s affecting me the way it is. I can’t say that we were ever really close friends. I mean, we had some good times together but we always seemed to be distant friends even though we were in the same city. I don’t know. Maybe this isn’t making any sense. All I know is that I have only one last chance to catch this person and I think I really have to go.

Fuck.

My Trip to “The City”

Ok, so here’s some pics and info on my recent trip to “The City”

This is the view from outside the hotel on 48th and Lex. Yeah, all the hotels were very expensive because of Fashion Week approaching. The Open didn’t help prices either. We stayed where my company had an employee discount for The Open. Still spent over $1000 for the 5 nights!
The Apple Store on 5th Ave and Central Park South. Open 24 hours, what more could you want?!

The new 7 World Trade Center building. I love how it reflects the sky.

Little Italy! Only in New York!!

The HEAD Penn booth at The Open. From right to left: Megan, Colin, My Mom, and Me!

The HEAD Penn booth, again. This time, from right to left: My Mom, Me, and Paula!

Part of the very short session of tennis we got to see. Tennis live is awesome!

See, this is why we had a sort session of tennis. DAMN RAIN!

Ok, I hope that was entertaining for all. Those were just some pics from my trip to NYC. I love The City and am planning a trip back next year for The Open. If you’re at all interested in coming along, save some cash for airfare, food, and hotel and I’ll try my best to score the event tickets! Sometimes working for a tennis company has its perks!!

My Long Lunch

OK, so today I went with the Irish to the English pub for lunch today, to watch England vs. Sweden. All I have to say is WOW! Thank GOD we’ve been there often enough for the owner to recognize us. He motioned us over to an area where there were some unoccupied seats. The most crowded I’ve ever seen the place. I honestly forgot I was in the US for a while. There were so many accents… ha! It was great!! They sang England songs, did some chants, all that good football stuff they do over in Europe. Hopefully I can make it back there on Sunday morning at 7.30 for England’s next game.

Successful Weekend

A quick weekend update:

Went to SoCal this weekend with a friend to help her look for apartments. She’s planning on moving to the area and work for Disney. I wasn’t sure exactly how the weekend was going to turn out or how successful it was going to be. Well, everything went well. A whole lot better than I expected. We got to see some places and I even was able to fit in a few World Cup matches at the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney as well as the Hurricanes vs Oilers game 6 on Saturday night. We felt so confident in our weekend that we made a spontaneous decision to go to the beach the next day. We had to hit up Wal-Mart for some good/cheap swimsuits and towels. I haven’t been to the beach in years so it was great We ended up going to Newport Beach which wasn’t too crowded, so that was a plus. The water was like ice but the sun was very nice. Anyway, a highly successful weekend and I must remember how close SoCal is and make more trips there to just chill for a weekend every once in a while.

A picture has been included below.

Concert!!

OMFG!

I went to the Kenny Chesney concert last night. Opening acts were Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley.

OMFG!!

The concert was awesome. The opening acts were awesome. Seriously, one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Kenny really knows how to put on a show! There was even a surprise visit by Uncle Kracker.

Dierks Bentley is an Arizona native so it was sort of a homecoming event for him. He definitely brought down the house. This was just an opening act! I knew I was in for something awesome! It’s hard to describe but it was so much fun! We had awesome seats, no where near the stage but in the front row of the second level which assured us of a clear view of all the action. The concert started at 7.30 and didn’t get over until almost 11.30. Totally worth the money spent and it’s sort of sad that it’s over now! hahaha!!

Anyway, if you haven’t heard any songs by these artists, please find some to listen to. If you need some, feel free to ask beause I have a ton.

Super Bowl XL

2 days and counting. I can hardly wait. I’m super nervous though!!

I’m having a few people over to my house on Sunday to watch the game. It’s going to be good times. I told them all that I have limited resources at my house so if they want something more than beer or chips, they need to bring it themselves… sort of a pot luck type of deal? I may also buy something else to eat, but I’m not sure yet. Maybe some “make your own sandwiches” deal or something? If you have any ideas for food stuffs, let me know about them in a comment or email.

Ok, gotta get back to work. I’ve slacked off enough for today!!

Question

Why is it ok for one group of friends to not want to do something out and about on a weekend night but completely unacceptable for others??

Example:

Two of my friends aren’t feeling like going out and doing something tonight. I do. If the roles were reversed, it would be completely unacceptable for me to say “no, I’d just like to stay in tonight.”

HOW IS THAT FAIR? UGH! Sometimes friends are more work than their worth! ;o)

I have 3 Hockey games in a row starting tomorrow night… You can bet that I’ll hear some shit from them about not going out on Saturday night or something…. AHHHHHH!!!

Sorry you guys, I just needed to vent a bit!!

Harry Potter and Other Things

OH MY GOD. $101 Million in the USA and $180 Million world wide? Damn! There hasn’t been a box office this big this whole year. Hollywood should take note… funny, interesting, and excellent films are what bring in the cash, not that crap they keep trying to force feed us. The movie was excellent… definitely the best of the 4 films. It’s awesome to see how the kids have become better actors over time. Truly a well done movie. The editing was excellent and so were the special effects. I can’t really complain about anything that I saw in the film. Well, tonight I’m seeing it again at the IMAX. I’ve never seen a feature film at the IMAX so this will be different. This will be #2 of my 3 or 4 viewings of the film in theaters.

On another note…

I was visiting my favorite site that provides info on the box office results and I was shocked by some of the figures. I knew Titanic was a huge hit but I had no idea that they were able to bring in $1.8 Billion world wide. That’s just pure insanity.

Remember Harry Potter

Ahhh… remembering Harry Potter. Yes, the last film I enjoyed while I was in Canada visiting Stacey. Can you imagine?!? That was sooo freaking long ago. I enjoyed it because it was a helluva lot cheaper seeing it there then here in the States (Canadian money is such a good deal for we Americans). My ticket cost me $9.50 for Thursday night. Isn’t a midnight show technically a “before 6pm” show? Hmmm… maybe I should write a letter!

Anyway, upon reminiscing about my trip to Canada, I am reminded of how I dominated Christine at Air Hockey. Never mind what she seems to remember because I think all that working at blockbuster has messed up her brain.

Yes, Derailed is GREAT. Read Stacy’s entry about it. I agree with her wholeheartedly. That one scene is very DISTURBING but it’s definitely an important part of the whole plot.

Ok, time to get back to work. BTW, I’m only 6 chapters from the end of book 6. I figure I’d better read it before the movie comes out because I’m bound to hear what happens in the book while waiting in line… If I had the ending ruined for me I don’t think I’d ever recover!
