Some Updates

So, it appears that we have a new builder coming into the neighborhood.  They are removing all the weeds from the empty lots and there seems to be some site work going on.  This is good news!  New homes means a complete neighborhood and a healthier HOA.  Also, they replaced the burnt out playground that was an eyesore in the community.  Things are looking good!  Oh, the city is also working on getting the new park finished next to the neighborhood.  It looks like this fall the dogs and I will have a new place to walk!

My DLP needs a new bulb.  I bought one and it has arrived but I need to install it.  My TV randomly turns itself off at the moment.  :)

Other things are falling into place as well… things are turning for the better, I think!

New, Old Chairs

The chairs below belonged to my great grandmother on my mom’s side.  My grandmother brought them to Arizona from Pennsylvania in the 50s when they moved and they’ve been sitting in their house ever since.  Well, now that my grandmother is no longer with us and my grandfather is getting older, my mom is trying to clear out their house to make things easier when he passes away.  My mom has been looking for someone to take the parlor set off her hands since there are so many pieces and she asked me if I was interested in having a couple.  I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to keep them in the family (I think my mom was just going to give them to Goodwill!) so I took two of them.  My mom had them reupholstered and I think the restoration came out really well.  They are currently sitting in my living room.  I’m not sure if that’s where they’ll stay or if they’ll find a home in the library or guest bedroom.  They don’t really “go” with any of my current decor but that’s not always a bad thing.  Anyone have any thoughts?

Album Art

Last weekend my mom came over to help me put up some artwork around the house.  The grid of albums was a two person job, for sure.  I wanted to make sure everything was even and nothing was crooked.  It took us about two hours to measure and finally get them on the wall.  This probably isn’t the greatest photo I could have taken but it gives you a pretty good idea of what it looks like.

Backyard – Complete!

Yesterday they finished the backyard!  Finally!  Now the dogs have some place to run and play off leash and do their business without us having to be right next to them 100% of the time.  I’m so happy!  Here are pictures of the back yard before and after.  :)

Backyard Update – Day 4?

I think this is day 4 of the updates but, to be honest, it has felt like a week!  Anyway, here are some photos from today’s work.  The grass has been installed and the patio given some finishing touches.  The granite has started to be installed and now we just wait for the remainder to be spread and the tress to be planted.  Yay!

Back Yard Update – Day 3

So many posts in just one day!  That’s what you get when I procrastinate.

Here’s what the back yard looked like after day 3 of the landscaping job.  Hopefully Monday will be the final day.

Back Yard Landscaping Update

Okay, so below are some photos of how the back yard landscaping job is going.  The first photo below is what the back yard looked like after our almost 23 hours of straight rain… 3 days later!

The images below are what the back yard looks like before Day 1, which was Wednesday, February 2nd.

This is what the back yard looks like after Day 1.

The existing patio is being covered with pavers.

You can see it how it will be extended beyond the current area.

A better shot of the extended patio.

This is where the grass will go – the orange circle area.

Another view of the grass area.

This is where a mound of dirt will go with some rocks and flowers.  I guess that’s what people do.  I’ve been told it will look nice.

So, keep checking back for more updates.  Every day I will post new photos of the progress.  Today they are finishing the patio and putting in plants and laying irrigation.  The grass will go in on Monday!

Our Cleaning Lady

So we have a cleaning lady and her name is Rosie… and she’s a robot… a Roomba to be exact.  :)  I love her so much.  Every day at 11 she sets out to accomplish the task of picking up every last bit of dog hair lying on the floor and she does a pretty damn good job of it.  She sweeps the kitchen and dining area, the living room, master bedroom, the bathrooms and even the office.  After she’s completed her task, she goes back home to recharge for the next day.  She’s amazing.  Only once this week did she get lost and need help finding her way back home (locked herself in the master bathroom water closet).  I’ve attached a photo of the carpet showing the pattern she followed while in the office for you to view in amazement.  :)

HVAC System Update – Blog Quickie

So I read the FAQs online and was able to troubleshoot the heating problem. The system works like a charm now. Just in time, since the weather took a turn for the worse this week. We have had pretty not stop rain since yesterday at 4pm. Nuts.
