A/C Fixed!!

Okay, I called a different company to come over and fix my HVAC system.  After seven and a half hours of work and just over $1200 the unit is fixed!  I have a cool house now!  Yes!!!  I will post a longer entry about the whole thing later, after I talk to the previous company and see what they have to say about their role in the whole fiasco.

My Community Pool

The pool in my condo community is closed.  Why?  Well, see the letter below.  We have a few people living in the area that can’t read picture signs and like to bring glass objects to an area where people (including children) walk around in bare feet.  These past few evenings have been quite wonderful.  Nice and quiet.  The pool is right outside of my home and some of these same people don’t know how to tell time (the pool is closed from 10pm to 8am).  Let’s hope it stays shut for a while!

A/C Drama Update

The A/C man showed up last night around 9.15pm.  Yeah, I know, really late.  Anyway, after mucking around out by the unit for about 30 minutes, he figured out what the problem was and the problem was fixed.  I’m now sitting in a nice cool house.  Thank goodness for that.  Another good thing?  It didn’t cost me much either.  I’m glad that I don’t have worry about this issue throughout the weekend.

Decorating Ideas

I’m thinking of buying some large prints for some huge empty white spaces in my house. I’m not sure how they’ll work out and I’d like some feedback from my readers. Below are thumbs that link to the larger images of what these things look like. The sizes of the prints are 6’x4’.  Thoughts?

New Neighbor(s)

Well, here we go again. Let’s hope that this time around the experience is a complete 180 from the last time. I’m hoping that the home has been purchased vs. being rented. It will make things so much easier in so many ways. I’m not 100% sure if it’s a couple or a single person. I have not seen them walking around outside the house and I have not gone over to introduce myself. I figure they are probably very busy unpacking and what not so I should leave them be for now. Maybe this upcoming weekend will be the right time to make the introductions.

Of course, there will be updates if things go crazy, but let’s hope it never comes to that.

It’s Going to be a Cold Christmas

Here I am, in my house in Phoenix, AZ. I probably can’t complain too much given we don’t have 10 feet of snow on the ground but it still gets cold in the desert. This normally wouldn’t be an issue, except my heater decided to poop out this morning.

I was awakened by a cool breeze on my face this morning which was not very refreshing. I spoke with the heater people and they said they could only get me on an “open appointment” time for someone to come and look at my heater. This means that they could show up at any time between 8am and 8pm. Great. I had to go into work this morning for a bit so I called my sister. She’s so great. I actually woke her up with my call and she still agreed to come down and wait at my house until I could get back from the office. Lucky for me she did. The repair guy showed up at 10am and proceeded to look things over. Turns out I need a part that they don’t keep stocked and, due to the holiday tomorrow, won’t be able to get one in until Wednesday. No heat for me for at least the next 48 hours. This will be fun. :(

In other news, I have rediscovered Matt Costa in my iTunes library. I just found out from my friend Jenie at work that he’ll be in Tempe in January. I’m considering attending that event, we’ll see.

A Weekend of Semi-Craziness

Weekend Update!

No football game this weekend. It was kind of strange not having to get up at the ungodly hour of 8.00 on Sunday morning! It was a good strange.

My dryer was delivered on Saturday after a bit of a fiasco. I had an appointment window set for 13.30 to 15.30. I figured this was good as I had many chores to get done around my house before my cousin arrives next weekend. I decorated the tree, cleaned the bathrooms, ripped 4 dvds to my computer and played some Uno with friends on XBox Live. Sometime during an Uno game I glanced at the clock and it was 15.20! I figured, oh, they’ll show up right at the end of the window, like most delivery people do. A few hands later and the phone rings. I realize it’s 15.45 and it’s Sears calling me… great. Turns out the person who sets up the delivery routes for Sears home delivery in Phoenix has absolutely no idea of the geography of this metro area. The delivery people are up in Scottsdale and won’t be able to make my appointment window (no shit). I am told by the “dispatcher” on the phone that they will come by at the end of their shift, which could be as late as 20.30! I really had plans to not hang out all night at home but I really wanted my dryer, so I changed some plans and waited. The dryer arrives at 19.30 and all is good, or so I thought. Yeah, who knew that dryers didn’t come with plugs attached to them… WTF?! I had to convince the delivery person to take the plug off the current dryer for me so I could use it to install my new dryer. The debacle continues as I am reading the instructions on how to attach this plug to the new dryer… there is a part I have to buy. I quickly google the closest Ace Hardware and ask when they close and find out I have less than 10 mins to get there. I tell the girl I’m literally 3 mins away and to please not close. I get the part, come home, install the plug as though I’ve done it 500x before, and connect the exhaust to the wall opening. After all this crazy running around, I am pleased to say that the new dryer works like a charm.

Today was spent finishing my laundry (like 5 loads including towels, bedding, etc.). I also wrapped some Christmas presents for family and friends. I watched my team lose to the Patriots and chatted with my Cousin for a bit. A pretty lazy Sunday, but that’s not a bad thing.

Major Neighbor Update

So, it turns out that my neighbor was selling Meth. Good times right? Well, the homeowner is having trouble keeping them out of the house so I’ve been recruited to be the snitch. Awesome. At least they weren’t making it there, little things to be thankful for. As of right now, I have no neighbor (just like I like it) and I probably won’t be getting one for a while (a huge plus). I’ll keep you all posted if anything new happens.
