The Long Awaited Update!!

Ok everyone, it’s finally here!

Here’s the update of what’s been going on over the past 2 weeks…

Saturday 9/25 – After the night before, I’m surprised we got this guy to come out with us once again. Another broadening of his horizons… introducing the Karaoke bar. I myself am not a fan of the Karaoke bar, but hey, if you’re drunk enough, does it even really matter?? Anyway, it was all great fun. Closing down a place is never a disappointment. One interesting point, this one guy that was in the group that night that I had never met before is a foster dad. How cool is that? Being a 26 year old foster father of 3 boys under the age of 10 can’t be easy. Anyway, I thought it was cool and deserved a mention. BTW, for those of you wondering, when our group goes to the Karaoke bar, we do not sing singly (is that even a word?), it’s always a group effort.

The week sucked then, because I got sick at that damn Karaoke bar… I guess sharing a mic with 30 other people isn’t the healthiest thing to do??

Thursday of this week though was kinda cool. This guy from work decided to throw a meatloaf and debate party. So we had meatloaf and watched the pres debate on tv. Different, but cool. BTW, there were no democrats at our party… go figure?

This weekend, having not yet fully recovered from the previous week of being sick, I stayed home on Friday night. I called in sick to the ballpark and just chilled and caught up on all my tv shows. Saturday was different though. It’s Oktoberfest, you can’t not go out and drink beer!! So that’s what we did. I called in ‘sick’ to work at the ballpark again and went on down. Just a note, riding the Zipper and the Gravitron after 5 beers may sound like a bad idea, but if you can hold your liquor, it’s great fun! And then, it was back to Karaoke… yup, it’s a Saturday night staple. It wasn’t as good as last time though. It was more crowded and we only got to sing 2 songs total, oh well! Of course, all that beer before and all the beer during and the few shots inbetween the beer put me right out of commission… we had a DD that wasn’t so good at the not drinking part, so we had to sober up at this person’s apartment before heading back to Scottsdale where I had left my car at someone else’s apartment. Then there was about another hour i spent at that apartment making sure that I was going to be good to drive. Needless to say, I got home and into bed at about 4am. And I had to get up and ready to go to the ballpark by 11am the next day. Good times! It’s been a crazy last two weeks.

Anyway, upcoming for this week is home searching and all that fun stuff. I have to get on the ball, I’m not really in a rush or anything, but if I find something I like, I may just have to pick it up!

That’s all for this update. I’m going to try to do them more often so these are so monsterous in size and don’t take up so much of my time.

I’m Sick…

*cough* I’m sick! It’s not fun being sick. I have yet to take a day off of work though. See how dedicated I am?!? We’ll see how I am tomorrow.

Anyway I’ll write tons more when I’m better but I had to mention somethings first…

See Garden State at the theatre. Simply awesome movie, and the soundtrack is kick ass as well (I’m listening to it now!).

House hunting sucks.

Congrats to Rachel in Seattle on the birth of her baby boy. Yay! I can’t wait to see him!!

And if I don’t get over my illness by Friday, I’m going to be really angry. Every year the Way Out West Oktoberfest comes around and for some reason or another I am unable to attend. It starts on Friday and that is the only day I can go, damn last weekend of baseball!! Anyway, I’m hoping real hard that I can get better and make it there. It’s gonna be great, or as someone at work would say, “it’s going to be a bonanza!”

It’s Teaching Time!

So, to further the education of my fellow readers, here is a link to a page that LiveJournal has setup for our favorite part of the English language; Homonyms!

Also, here’s a small rant about the use of the “apostrophe s”… enjoy!

Contraction Form – The cat’s out of the bag.

Possessive Form – The cat’s feet are out of the bag.

Plural – All the cat’s are out of the bag. << WRONG! INCORRECT! WHERE’D YOU LEARN THIS!? STOP DOING IT!!! >>

Some POPULAR but INCORRECT rules:

1. When pluralizing a word that ends with a vowel, add an “apostrophe s.” (WRONG)
2. When pluralizing any other word, add an “apostrophe s.” (WRONG)
3. Add an “apostrophe s” whenever you feel like it. (Surprisingly, this is also wrong)

Ok, now that I have educated you on common homonym misusage and the consistant misusage of the “apostrophe s”, please take the time to proof read your written material. Remember, it will save you from looking like a complete and utter moron.

Has It Really Been That Long???

Wow! The Highly Anticipated update to my journal is finally here!!!

Ok, to catch you up on stuff….

This weekend = BUSY! Saturday (ok, Sat wasn’t busy at all, but I have to start somewhere) I got up early to was my car before the heat of the day (yeah right, it was already hot at 8am) and then I took a nap… because I was tried from getting up so early… then I went to see Dodgeball (sucked *more to come below*). Then, I got a call from my friend Jen who is starting Medical School at the U of A in August and has bought a house down in Tucson… so she needed some movers… ugh… Because I’m such a nice friend, I agreed to come over and help her load the truck and unload it down in Tucson. She was packing at the moment and just needed my help for the moving…

Sunday! Today is moving day… and the stuff was supposed to be packed at the apartment… and it wasn’t…. imagine that! Anyway, so I arrived there at 10am, we didn’t leave for Tucson until 3pm… I didn’t get home that night until 9.45pm… almost 12 hours of moving! Ahhh! It was only supposed to be a few hours!! Oh well… it was kinda fun…and it was cool seeing her house. I need one of them… planning on it within the next year… hopefully I’ll have one by this time next year!! Exciting!!

Just an interesting footnote that I thought of real quick… Molson Canadian is cheaper here in The States than in Canada, go figure.

This week… it’s going to be great. Granted, it’s half over, so I kinda know how it’s going to be turning out already, but whatever. So, #1 reason why this week will rock… Spider-Man is out! YEAH!! Totally awesome! Seeing it at the Cine Capri at 6.10 after work… already have my ticket and everything! What sucks is that movies at the Cine Capri cost more than at the other theatres in the same building! Yes, instead of $8 for the movie, it’s $9… I could have gotten it for $7.50 if I had remembered my student ID, damn it!

Other reasons why this week is going to rock… I get to see my friend Kaci from NAU for the first time in almost a year! How is it that two people can live in the same city, yet not make the time to get together more than once a year? How strange… Anyway, that’s going to be great, there is sooo much for us to catch up on and all that stuff. And when I mean we don’t see each other, I mean we don’t even call or email or anything… isn’t that weird? Maybe an IM every once in a while if we’re both on-line at the same time… but that’s rare! Another reason… This weekend is a long weekend! Who doesn’t love holiday weekends? What’s even better is that it’s the 4th of July weekend… probably the second best Holiday in my book. Of course, I know some people don’t feel that way, but that’s ok… I guess (j/k). Let me see.. what else is kick ass about this week… oh yeah, my supervisor is still in Hawaii working (or so we are to believe) and won’t be back until Thursday… that means a bit of slacking off at work is in order… yeah!! So yeah, this week kicks ass and is going to be great!

Another side note… I LOVE MY CAR!!

Now, on to the movies I have recently seen…

My scoring table: (a bit harsh?)

* crap
** ok, but still crap
*** rental worthy, a bit of crap
**** definitely recommend seeing on the big screen, but rental if you just can’t make it – no crap here.
***** if you don’t see this movie in the theatre, God will hate you. – Absolutely no crap here, you should probably even see this one twice.

Love Me If You Dare (Independent) **
Ok, the trailer for this movie made it look like it would actually be good. Oh My God. Ok, first of all, the movie is subtitled (unless you speak French) which means that the movie has to be relatively good to keep your interest. Nope, no interest here… and I actually got lost half way through… the story started out good but then it seemed like the writer lost his way and the story just went to pieces… crazy. I do not recommend seeing this movie at all… unless you can see it for free somehow.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story ***
Again, a movie that had an awesome trailer, but all the good parts are in the preview, save a few. So yeah, it was funny… but kind of dumb. Ben Stiller’s character reminded me too much of Zoolander (not a bad thing if you’re watching Zoolander). Also, some jokes were only funny if you are under the age of 12… I gave this movie 3 stars just because I think it’s ok to see in your own home, but I don’t believe that you should pay to see it in the theatre.

Saved! (Just saw it today!) ****
Ok, totally not what I expected this movie to be but it’s really good. There are funny parts, some hidden sexual references, etc… all well and good.. some nice poking fun of crazy Christian extremists… stereotyped people you would know if you attended a Christian school (i did, so it was even more funny and I can attest to the fact that it’s scarily accurate at times). But, this movie stuck to it’s title, not in a spiritual sense, but in just a general life sense… the life of a teenage girl, even a bit of what all teenagers go through during those awkward high school years. Anyway, I recommend seeing this movie in the theatre… it’s not as popular as it could have been so it’s exiting the theatres fast… so see it ASAP. Yeah, a great movie… all the elements of a good film… comedy (jokes, pranks, midgets, etc) and drama packaged together perfectly. I won’t lie, I have nothing to hide, some parts of this movie made me a bit watery eyed.. yup, exactly, how crazy is that?? (not so crazy when you can apply some situations to things that have happened to you or ppl you know in your life). Ok, enough of this, just go see it, you won’t be disappointed!

Spider-Man 2 – A REVIEW TO COME TOMORROW (I’m anticipating 5 star rating)

A Side Note – Again – DBacks Lose 11th Straight! Yeah! We Rock! On a happy note, Randy Johnson reached 4000 career strikeouts tonight! Amazing!!!

Oooo! Another side note – Britney Spears. WTF? Why would you marry someone who is having a child with another woman in the next few weeks?? What? What? What? I have no other words… What????

Ok, that’s all for this update, I believe. I can’t think of anything else….

I’m a slacker, or am I just busy??

Ok, so I’ve been really bad at keeping up on my posts here… but this next week will be much less hectic than the past week was.

Normally I only work the weekend baseball games at the BOB (which, btw, will have a new name come December, how sad). But this last week was Yankees week so they needed all the help the could get. So guess who stepped up? That’s right, me. So I went to my real job at 7.30am, left there by 4.15 to arrive at the game by 5pm and worked until after 9.30pm and got to bed by 11pm so I could rise at 5.30am to do it all over again… not much fun. But the D-Backs are on the road for 10 days, whew! Of course, they only won one game this home stand, out of 6 games played… boooo!! oh well!! (we took 2 of 3 from the Jays last week, so it’s all good).

This upcoming week will be filled by movies… I have too many to see and not enough time to see them in. Top three on my list are Love Me If You Dare, Dodge Ball, and Saved! (the last one is going to be great!)

Ok, time for bed, I have work tomorrow… yuck!

Ok, I lied!

Another post?? So soon? Yeah… I had to share this info…

What is the greatest idea ever by a company??

That would be offering a **FREE** single of the week by Apple through iTunes! Who doesn’t love FREE stuff?? Especially when it’s music???

Just wanted to share that!

OH! And for you Nintendo freaks (you know who you are!!)… here’s a Flash story you have to see… parts 1 – 4.

Uneventful….

Today was a very uneventful day… very relaxing… the only thing I did all day today was make a trip to Target to pick up some stuff for my mom, and that was it… the rest of the day was spent catching up on my magazines, some tv shows (not much on these days), and surfing the net. A very good day.

Tomorrow will be slightly more hectic. I have to wash and wax my car, so that means getting up early to do it around 7am before it gets too hot. There is also a baseball game tomorrow and I’m not sure if I work it or not… lol. Hopefully I’ll get in touch with my boss tomorrow to find out!! :) If I don’t work it, then maybe I’ll go to it… of course, who wants to go and watch their team lose? Can the Diamondbacks play any worse than they are now???? Geeze!!

Or maybe I’ll do a movie… there are still a few out there I have yet to see…

Some things…

It’s been a few days since I last posted… actually 3 days to be exact… here’s what’s happened….

Wednesday – Went to the second ever performance of The Lord of the Rings Symphony in North America. It was performed by the Phoenix Symphony and it was GREAT! I would highly recommend going to see this if your local symphony performs it. It’s definitely a must for any fan of the films!

Thursday – Helped my friend finish packing up her stuff and all the fun crap that goes along with moving… and said goodbye… how sad. we won’t be seeing each other until December at the earliest…. but I have something to look forward to, right?? (and by then she’ll have a child, so it’ll definitely be different)

Friday – Worked my ass off at work, trying to stave off the possibility of having to work on Saturday. This major project is a HUGE pain in my ass and I now officially hate HP. Also! Saw The Day After Tomorrow and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried not to get my hopes up too high for this movie. I was relieved when it actually out performed my expectations, an excellent follow up to the official summer movie season started last week by Shrek 2 (which IS a must see if you haven’t yet!! Multiple viewings are in order!) Next week Harry Potter! A guaranteed to please movie!

Saturday (today) – Unable to finish the project to the point we wanted, I had to go to work today. Ugh, a horrible start to a holiday weekend… my 3 day weekend has been shaved down to 2 days… thanks to HP (the bastards!). Anyway, got a ton done today, even though half the team left early. Got in a 8am, was supposed to leave at 12 (half the team did), but actually worked until 3.30… so 6.5 hours of work on a official weekend day… not fun!

All is well now, I’m at home, using the net, listening to my music… actually, I think I’ll watch some of the Smallville’s my sister brought over… never really got into that show, but her roommate is addicted and has purchased the first season on DVD and will be getting the second soon… so why not watch when you don’t have to worry about those damn commercials??

Ok, that’s enough for now. Time to get on to other things. I hope to keep up my routine of writing once a day… we’ll see.

It’s Saturday Night… 9 PM…

So why am I at home and posting to my journal?? Oh yeah, that’s right… still a bit under the weather… Oh wait, would I still be at home even if I wasn’t sick… yeah, probably. It’s very sad. I have too many friends that are still at University (a year behind me) or have just plain moved out of this place called Phoenix. Hmmmm… how lonely it is here… and I never realized how hard it was to meet people once you get out of school… wow, this post is bumming me out. I need to find some more friends, but how exactly do you go about doing that? hmmmm…

Ok, that’s about all for this post. Here’s my running tally (starting today) of Saturday night’s that I’m at home… (1)

Oh and it’ll definitely get worse before it gets better… remember how i mentioned that my best friend is moving to Seattle? Six days and counting… :(

Two things…

First, I saw Shrek 2 yesterday. I highly recommend you see this movie. I’m not sure I can say it was better than the first one. They are completely different types of movies. Anyway, you can definitely be assured of a good time when you go and see it. That should be enough of an incentive to get out and see it.

Second, well… i seriously had something to say here, but i’ve been distracted by the phone…. so now i forget. :( oh well. I guess it wasn’t that important.

Anyway, another week of work gone, whew! This past week was a real pain, but I survived and I have 2 glorious days off… thank god for weekends!!
