I know you’ll be amazed but…

I haven’t seen The Village yet!! Yikes! I am planning on seeing it tomorrow, so I’ll update then with my small review.

Now, on to other things… let me see… oh yeah, NINE Days until Athens! Sweet! If you know me at all you know how much I love the Olympics. It’s going to be so great.

What else… oh yeah, today is Tuesday… that means BB and TAR were on. So let me recap for those of you who decide that those shows are not important enough to make time to watch. ;o)

BB this week, Scott and Jase as we know are on the eviction block… tonight’s episode was the veto competition in which only the two put up for eviction, the HOH and three other house guests (each person gets to choose one) compete. First of all, Diane is completely retarded, if you didn’t want Jase to get the Veto you had to put enough coins in his piggy bank to knock him out of the competition. You know that you have one other person on your side and all you two had to do was put all your coins in his pig and it would be over… needless to say, that didn’t happen. Jase won veto power (sucks!!) and in the subsequent veto ceremony, took himself off the block. This forced Diane to put someone else up. Scott and Jase wanted Marvin to go up because they believe that they can sway the other house guests to vote for him instead of Scott. Little do they know that the real plan is to get rid of Scott. He’s the lesser of two evils, but since Jase got off, they have no choice. Now, I’m predicting that they go through with this, but if for some reason it turns out that Marvin gets evicted, I will be speachless. If these people think they will survive another week with Scott and Jase in the house, they are on crack! We’ll find out on Thursday… and that’s also the day that Adria and Natalie both get to come into the house, which will be super cool!! (did i just say super cool??)

Now, TAR, well, it continues to make me happy. It’s the highlight to my Tuesday night. This week they traveled from St. Petersburg to Cairo. I have officially picked a team and that team is Colin and Christy (or is it Kristy?). Now, I know you’re all thinking that’s just because they are in the lead but that’s not so. If you’ve ever watched this show before, you know a lead this early in the race means absolutely nothing! They are a smart team and they play fair (for the most part). The teams had to go to the Hermitage Museum to find Rembrant’s “The Prodigal Son” which was easier than it sounds (most museums place art by the same artist in the same room/wing). After that, they had to make their way to Cairo. In Cairo, they had to make their way over to the Giza Plateau and complete some tasks. The tasks consisted of putting together a puzzle to find out where to go next, followed by a Detour which made them choose between leading some Camels to a carpet merchant over a mile away or moving two 100 lb cement bricks 100 yards. The only people to do the Camel way was Charla and Myrna. The other teams were too late to do that one and had to move the cement bricks. Anyway, the finishing teams for this leg were Colin/Christy, Myrna/Charla, Brandon/Nicole, Chip/Kim, Marshall/Lance, Kami/Karli, and Linda/Karen. This was a non elimination round so Linda/Karen were spared being booted off the show, but the new twist for this season is that they lose all their money and have take on the next leg broke. That’ll make it much more interesting… I believe they’ll be able to survive through this next leg. We’ll see! Tune in next Tuesday to find out!!

Ok, time for bed! Diamondbacks WON! amazingly enough! HP comes for a visit tomorrow (scary!!) and I need my sleep because work is not going to be fun tomorrow!!

why work sucks (sometimes) and other quips

So, sometimes work sucks. Yes, those days are usually occur more often than good days, but we won’t get into that at the moment. I knew today was going to be one of those days. You just get this feeling before the work day really starts. You can also tell it’s going to be one of those days when you look at the clock assuming you have been at work for a good 2 hours at least only to find that 45 mins have passed since you arrived. Not good. Anyway, so I’m working on Cost Allocation for wonderful EMEA. The problem is spelled out in an email, in some language other than English (at least not a form of English I can understand) and I have to get the opinions of 2 other people as to what is really being said. I get an explaination saying that we’re matching things incorrectly… I really can’t go into much detail because you just wouldn’t understand, and I don’t think I’m even allowed to. So i’m thinking, “how easy a fix will this be, just find out why it’s not matching and fix it.” But is it ever that easy? No. I spend a little over 5 1/2 hours researching what is going on, asking more questions, getting answers from the customer, etc.

After all this time, i’m still no closer to an answer. I figure that i’m totally missing the point so I decide to re-read the email. Upon further investigation through other channels not explored in my first reading of the message I come to find out that we aren’t wondering why these certain things weren’t matching, but rather we want to know why we’re allocating the bills to different entities (this action is not allowed for EMEA). So, out of the 719 bills in this invoice, 2 were allocating to different entities… so I pull them out, test them… and guess what… they are no longer allocating to this incorrect entity… it seems that rules which were placed into effect earlier in the week have taken care of this issue… so this BIG issue that I have spent the whole day researching, troubleshooting, questioning, etc is not an issue at all… It was the most productive use of 7 1/2 hours of my life… OH MY GOD. Sometimes I really dislike my job and some of the people who work with me… ugh…

My other quips…

BB5 and TAR are still freaking awesome shows. No quotes from TAR episode three… except for one… (ok, maybe 3)

Mirna: “Does my hair look ok?” (said on the drive to the pit stop, god forbid she look gross for Phil. lol!!)
Pizza Guy (who knows their names? must not be really important…lol): “Bitch!” (as they drive past Mirna and Charla’s car, totally confusing Mirna, lol!)
Charla: “I just got electrocuted!” (said right after she grabs onto an electric fence)

And in BB5 news..> I hate Jase and Scott even more now. Of course Jase vetoed Holly off the eviction list, why wouldn’t he, bastard. Now a good player will have to go. Hopefully it’ll be Lori since she already won some money and not Karen. I think Karen can go a long way this season, if she can make it through this eviction round. Just FYI to all those people who may become contestants on BB in the future… NEVER VETO SOMEONE OFF! You will not last longer than 2 weeks after you’ve done that… you only make enemies in the house… especially the HOH. (of course, knowing Jase and his luck, the 2 week rule will not apply to him and he’ll win the $500,000 at the end of it all! damn!)

And finally! I don’t work BOB this weekend. Since the D-Backs suck ass no one is going to the games so they don’t need as many people manning the stands… yay! A free weekend! (boo, i’m not making money!!).

What a long update! I need to get back into my routine… but it’s hard to remember to write every day, but i’ll try harder. Current Music – Highly Recommend this Artist!

One last thing… See I,Robot (quite entertaining, not picture of the year material, but a good time none the less.. I WANT A ROBOT!!)

Ok, one more last thing… 3 weeks till Athens! Can’t wait! It’s gonna be great! Go TEAM USA! Dominate the medal count (like always!) I predict over 100 this time around! (sorry canada, you don’t perform as well when there isn’t snow involved)

Spider-man, Spider-man, does whatever a spider can!

OH MY GOD! That’s all I have to say. If you don’t see this movie in the theatre, then I just cannot be your friend. So, if you want to remain my friend, you must see this movie. Trust me, it’s that good. In my opinion, it was even better than the first. It’s soo hard to put into words because I don’t want to give away any parts of the movie, since you all will be seeing it in the theatres. :) If you want to discuss it, we can do so in an IM or on the phone… you know I’m always eager to discuss anything movies/tv related! Exciting!

A new addiction on the television… I know, I really don’t need any, but this one is good. That would be Nip/Tuck. I was a bit scared of this show… but after seeing the first full season and the first episode of the new season, I have to say that it’s some quality television. I’m just happy they have a show on Cable that isn’t afraid to use profanity every once in a while and show some nudity. There’s no harm in that! And it’s not even on HBO! Yay!!

Ok, that’s all for now. I’m sort of disappointed in my post re Spider-Man given it’s so great, but like I said above, I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone. (btw, in case you were wondering, which I know you were, I am going to see it again next week… maybe Monday since it’s a holiday)

Has It Really Been That Long???

Wow! The Highly Anticipated update to my journal is finally here!!!

Ok, to catch you up on stuff….

This weekend = BUSY! Saturday (ok, Sat wasn’t busy at all, but I have to start somewhere) I got up early to was my car before the heat of the day (yeah right, it was already hot at 8am) and then I took a nap… because I was tried from getting up so early… then I went to see Dodgeball (sucked *more to come below*). Then, I got a call from my friend Jen who is starting Medical School at the U of A in August and has bought a house down in Tucson… so she needed some movers… ugh… Because I’m such a nice friend, I agreed to come over and help her load the truck and unload it down in Tucson. She was packing at the moment and just needed my help for the moving…

Sunday! Today is moving day… and the stuff was supposed to be packed at the apartment… and it wasn’t…. imagine that! Anyway, so I arrived there at 10am, we didn’t leave for Tucson until 3pm… I didn’t get home that night until 9.45pm… almost 12 hours of moving! Ahhh! It was only supposed to be a few hours!! Oh well… it was kinda fun…and it was cool seeing her house. I need one of them… planning on it within the next year… hopefully I’ll have one by this time next year!! Exciting!!

Just an interesting footnote that I thought of real quick… Molson Canadian is cheaper here in The States than in Canada, go figure.

This week… it’s going to be great. Granted, it’s half over, so I kinda know how it’s going to be turning out already, but whatever. So, #1 reason why this week will rock… Spider-Man is out! YEAH!! Totally awesome! Seeing it at the Cine Capri at 6.10 after work… already have my ticket and everything! What sucks is that movies at the Cine Capri cost more than at the other theatres in the same building! Yes, instead of $8 for the movie, it’s $9… I could have gotten it for $7.50 if I had remembered my student ID, damn it!

Other reasons why this week is going to rock… I get to see my friend Kaci from NAU for the first time in almost a year! How is it that two people can live in the same city, yet not make the time to get together more than once a year? How strange… Anyway, that’s going to be great, there is sooo much for us to catch up on and all that stuff. And when I mean we don’t see each other, I mean we don’t even call or email or anything… isn’t that weird? Maybe an IM every once in a while if we’re both on-line at the same time… but that’s rare! Another reason… This weekend is a long weekend! Who doesn’t love holiday weekends? What’s even better is that it’s the 4th of July weekend… probably the second best Holiday in my book. Of course, I know some people don’t feel that way, but that’s ok… I guess (j/k). Let me see.. what else is kick ass about this week… oh yeah, my supervisor is still in Hawaii working (or so we are to believe) and won’t be back until Thursday… that means a bit of slacking off at work is in order… yeah!! So yeah, this week kicks ass and is going to be great!

Another side note… I LOVE MY CAR!!

Now, on to the movies I have recently seen…

My scoring table: (a bit harsh?)

* crap
** ok, but still crap
*** rental worthy, a bit of crap
**** definitely recommend seeing on the big screen, but rental if you just can’t make it – no crap here.
***** if you don’t see this movie in the theatre, God will hate you. – Absolutely no crap here, you should probably even see this one twice.

Love Me If You Dare (Independent) **
Ok, the trailer for this movie made it look like it would actually be good. Oh My God. Ok, first of all, the movie is subtitled (unless you speak French) which means that the movie has to be relatively good to keep your interest. Nope, no interest here… and I actually got lost half way through… the story started out good but then it seemed like the writer lost his way and the story just went to pieces… crazy. I do not recommend seeing this movie at all… unless you can see it for free somehow.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story ***
Again, a movie that had an awesome trailer, but all the good parts are in the preview, save a few. So yeah, it was funny… but kind of dumb. Ben Stiller’s character reminded me too much of Zoolander (not a bad thing if you’re watching Zoolander). Also, some jokes were only funny if you are under the age of 12… I gave this movie 3 stars just because I think it’s ok to see in your own home, but I don’t believe that you should pay to see it in the theatre.

Saved! (Just saw it today!) ****
Ok, totally not what I expected this movie to be but it’s really good. There are funny parts, some hidden sexual references, etc… all well and good.. some nice poking fun of crazy Christian extremists… stereotyped people you would know if you attended a Christian school (i did, so it was even more funny and I can attest to the fact that it’s scarily accurate at times). But, this movie stuck to it’s title, not in a spiritual sense, but in just a general life sense… the life of a teenage girl, even a bit of what all teenagers go through during those awkward high school years. Anyway, I recommend seeing this movie in the theatre… it’s not as popular as it could have been so it’s exiting the theatres fast… so see it ASAP. Yeah, a great movie… all the elements of a good film… comedy (jokes, pranks, midgets, etc) and drama packaged together perfectly. I won’t lie, I have nothing to hide, some parts of this movie made me a bit watery eyed.. yup, exactly, how crazy is that?? (not so crazy when you can apply some situations to things that have happened to you or ppl you know in your life). Ok, enough of this, just go see it, you won’t be disappointed!

Spider-Man 2 – A REVIEW TO COME TOMORROW (I’m anticipating 5 star rating)

A Side Note – Again – DBacks Lose 11th Straight! Yeah! We Rock! On a happy note, Randy Johnson reached 4000 career strikeouts tonight! Amazing!!!

Oooo! Another side note – Britney Spears. WTF? Why would you marry someone who is having a child with another woman in the next few weeks?? What? What? What? I have no other words… What????

Ok, that’s all for this update, I believe. I can’t think of anything else….

Movies… Thank God It’s The Summer Season!!

Ok, so I’ve mentioned Harry Potter and The Day After Tomorrow as movies that are coming up soon that I’m psyched to see… here are the others that are coming up this summer that I have to mention… yes, I will be see every last one of these in the theater.

The Village
Love Me If You Dare
King Arthur
Spider-Man 2 (sucky title, can we try to be more creative.)
The Terminal
Dodgeball
The Chronicles of Riddick
The Bourne Supremacy (see, unique titles of sequals can be done!)
Catwoman
I,Robot
The Manchurian Cadidate

All of these come out in June or July… August sucks as a movie month this year, but I guess they all can’t be good.

Anyway, trailers are out for all of these movies. I highly recommend you check them out if you haven’t seen them yet. http://www.apple.com/trailers/

Ok, TV time and then bed! Yes, Monday was an indicator of how this week of work is going to go… ugh…

Two last things….

Fantasia Rocks and GO FLAMES GO!

Two Weekends…

These 2 upcoming weekends are going to be great! Two of my most anticipated movies of this summer will be coming out. The Day After Tomorrow starts on Friday… now, I’m not 100% sure on this one, it may really turn out to be a huge disappointment, but I’m going to remain positive.

Second! Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban! The UK site has a completely different trailer than we get here in the states, and I believe it’s a much better trailer! Here’s the link. http://harrypotter.warnerbros.co.uk/web/hogwarts/dailyprophet/media_archive.jsp It makes me wish the movie was out now!!

And finally, I have to vent about work today… well, actually I will abstain… let me just say that let’s hope this day was not an indicator of what this week will be like!! Whew!

Two things…

First, I saw Shrek 2 yesterday. I highly recommend you see this movie. I’m not sure I can say it was better than the first one. They are completely different types of movies. Anyway, you can definitely be assured of a good time when you go and see it. That should be enough of an incentive to get out and see it.

Second, well… i seriously had something to say here, but i’ve been distracted by the phone…. so now i forget. :( oh well. I guess it wasn’t that important.

Anyway, another week of work gone, whew! This past week was a real pain, but I survived and I have 2 glorious days off… thank god for weekends!!

Troy… a movie…

Was anyone else disappointed with this movie as I was? I mean, it was good… and yes, I’d see it again, like in 2 years or so… but i thought it would have been a bit better… i don’t know… it seemed that it was really, really, really slow and kinda corny in some parts… anyway, not what i expected, but I could recommend that you see it in the theater… Oh yeah, one last thing… too much of naked Brad Pitt in this movie… yikes! Definitely wasn’t expecting that!

Friends and things…

Ok, so don’t you hate it when you’re mad at someone but before you can tell them so they tell you something that would make you look like a jerk if you were mad at them at that moment???

So, I went to Troy today after work with my best friend. She’s the kind of person who hates it when you’re late but it’s ok if she shows up late… that sort of thing, so it’s sort of expected that she will not show up when she says if we’re not driving someplace together. Anyway, the movie started at 5.30 and she was a no show until 5.50… really pissed me off since i drove from extreme north scottsdale all the way to downtown phoenix in about 40 mins and was at the theater at 5pm as it was agreed. Anyway, so i was mad about that and I figured I would say something about it… but before I could do so, she throws out the information that Microsoft has finally got all their shit together and she’ll be moving to Seattle a week from Friday! Holy crap! I swear, i knew it was going to happen, but I figured it’d be the middle of June or something, at least. Never expected it so soon! So yeah, couldn’t so much mention the whole late issue (mostly because I forgot about it!). Oh well, I guess there is no amount of preparation you can have for a friend moving away… makes me very sad… oh well… just means i’ll have to plan many vacations to the Seattle area.

A few more closing notes… Randy Johnson pitched a perfect game tonight (SWEET!) Maybe this will get the team fired up?? Who knows, because we were just swept by the damn Expos! And it’s FREAKING HOT here, way to early in the summer for 101+ temps! AHHH! Ok, that’s all for now… still fighting this cold, so staying up is not conducive to getting better.
