RIAA

Read this story from Red Herring. And they wonder why people still download music… hahaha.

RIAA’s Sour Notes

Is the Recording Industry Association of America fair in going after satellite radio outlets XM and Sirius? Both XM and Sirius have announced MP3 products that would allow their subscribers to download songs they have heard on the air to their MP3 players for future playback. The RIAA sees the downloading of songs from satellite radio play lists as a clear violation of the industry’s agreement with XM and Sirius and expects to be paid for the use of its content. But how is the downloading of songs from the radio’s play list different than taping of songs off the radio? Or perhaps loading one’s MP3 player with songs from one’s own CD collection? We tried to reach the RIAA for the second day in a row to check out the story, but none of the three media reps have had time to return our calls.

The new job.

I wanted to post the web address for my company in case some of you have no idea what Head makes.

Second, it’s amazing… my manager has no idea what to train me on and so I am currently getting paid to read email, surf the net, and just plain dick around at work. Yay! Actually, I wish he’d figure out a project to get me started on, then I would at least have something to look forward to and something to make the time pass more quickly. But, I can’t complain too much, it’s 1000x better than my old job!!

Oh yeah, for some reason I’m currently addicted to Green Day, no clue why.

Keane – Have you heard them?

I highly recommend you buy this CD. If you’re in the US, you can get it for only $8.99 at Target. Thank God for their emerging artists section!!

Anyway, work has sucked the past few days. It’s gotten extremely monotonous. I think it is time for a vacation, but I have no cash! On top of being burned out at work, I am dealing with this whole home buying thing. It’s really not fun. It also makes you sad when you actually realize what it is you can afford in a home. Let me just say that it’s not much if I want to be close to work… there are so many fucking decisions you have to make when thinking of purchasing a home. I also feel bad for taking up the real estate agents time if I don’t end up getting a home before the new year. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes. I’ll definitely post updates.

Anyway, I’m half tempted to call in “sick” tomorrow like so many people are at work this week… we’ll see (another disadvantage to living at home, you really can’t call in sick whenever you want… you have to deal with the parental guilt… ugh).

Time for a TV show before bed.

I’m Sick…

*cough* I’m sick! It’s not fun being sick. I have yet to take a day off of work though. See how dedicated I am?!? We’ll see how I am tomorrow.

Anyway I’ll write tons more when I’m better but I had to mention somethings first…

See Garden State at the theatre. Simply awesome movie, and the soundtrack is kick ass as well (I’m listening to it now!).

House hunting sucks.

Congrats to Rachel in Seattle on the birth of her baby boy. Yay! I can’t wait to see him!!

And if I don’t get over my illness by Friday, I’m going to be really angry. Every year the Way Out West Oktoberfest comes around and for some reason or another I am unable to attend. It starts on Friday and that is the only day I can go, damn last weekend of baseball!! Anyway, I’m hoping real hard that I can get better and make it there. It’s gonna be great, or as someone at work would say, “it’s going to be a bonanza!”

Just a quickie!

Ok, so I just downloaded the free song of the week from iTunes. You can see the info about the song below. Now I know not everyone enjoys country music but this song isn’t too bad, but it is pretty country. The funny thing is… the guy who sings the song is from Australia! How the heck does someone from Australia end up creating a country music album? Just find that quite amusing. I mean, it is a music style invented in the U.S.

Yay! It’s the 6th of July!!

Why am I so happy it’s the 6th of July?? Well, that’s because my TWO favorite summer shows start today!

What are those shows you ask?

Big Brother and The Amazing Race (the latter being my most favorite show of all time!!)

ooooooooooo… so exciting! Thank You CBS! What would I do without these shows to get me through the long boring summer season?!?!

I’m recording them as we speak, it’s better to watch with no commercial interruption.

Notice who I’m listening to at the moment… I would highly recommend you go and purchase his CD “Beneath These Fireworks.” Excellent work!

Not much else to post today, besides that I hate going to work after a holiday weekend… soooo much shit that we have to do… ugh!

OK! TTYL!

Ok, I lied!

Another post?? So soon? Yeah… I had to share this info…

What is the greatest idea ever by a company??

That would be offering a **FREE** single of the week by Apple through iTunes! Who doesn’t love FREE stuff?? Especially when it’s music???

Just wanted to share that!

OH! And for you Nintendo freaks (you know who you are!!)… here’s a Flash story you have to see… parts 1 – 4.

Some things…

It’s been a few days since I last posted… actually 3 days to be exact… here’s what’s happened….

Wednesday – Went to the second ever performance of The Lord of the Rings Symphony in North America. It was performed by the Phoenix Symphony and it was GREAT! I would highly recommend going to see this if your local symphony performs it. It’s definitely a must for any fan of the films!

Thursday – Helped my friend finish packing up her stuff and all the fun crap that goes along with moving… and said goodbye… how sad. we won’t be seeing each other until December at the earliest…. but I have something to look forward to, right?? (and by then she’ll have a child, so it’ll definitely be different)

Friday – Worked my ass off at work, trying to stave off the possibility of having to work on Saturday. This major project is a HUGE pain in my ass and I now officially hate HP. Also! Saw The Day After Tomorrow and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried not to get my hopes up too high for this movie. I was relieved when it actually out performed my expectations, an excellent follow up to the official summer movie season started last week by Shrek 2 (which IS a must see if you haven’t yet!! Multiple viewings are in order!) Next week Harry Potter! A guaranteed to please movie!

Saturday (today) – Unable to finish the project to the point we wanted, I had to go to work today. Ugh, a horrible start to a holiday weekend… my 3 day weekend has been shaved down to 2 days… thanks to HP (the bastards!). Anyway, got a ton done today, even though half the team left early. Got in a 8am, was supposed to leave at 12 (half the team did), but actually worked until 3.30… so 6.5 hours of work on a official weekend day… not fun!

All is well now, I’m at home, using the net, listening to my music… actually, I think I’ll watch some of the Smallville’s my sister brought over… never really got into that show, but her roommate is addicted and has purchased the first season on DVD and will be getting the second soon… so why not watch when you don’t have to worry about those damn commercials??

Ok, that’s enough for now. Time to get on to other things. I hope to keep up my routine of writing once a day… we’ll see.

Ugh… no idea what to put here…

Let me just say that I was hoping this week of work would be better than last week… unfortunately that is not the case. This week is the same, if not worse than last week. Sooooo much crap going on at work, it’s almost more than I can handle. Oh well… it’s almost Friday and I have a feeling next week will be better…. mainly because the boss will be on vacation! YEAH! lol

Once again I must pause and praise my car. In Arizona you’ve got to love what you drive, and I do!

Time to get ready for an evening out on the town (if that’s what you call accompanying your mother on her Mother’s Day gift, a Josh Groban concert, lol).
