This was the first song performed by the contestant looking to make it to Hollywood Week. I figured I’d find the video and put it on the site. It’s a classic.

Fallen Idols?
What? Seriously? Hahaha!! Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard, and Katharine McPhee all without recording contracts? I guess just being on the show (or even winning it) isn’t enough to make people like your music. I personally don’t feel bad about any of this news. I don’t have a single mp3 from any of these “Idols” in my library.
Some Random Things
I’ve found myself spending lots of time reading various news stories lately. I mean, for all sorts of outlets. Everything from the International Herald Tribune to Breitbart to the Drudge Report. It seems that I’m just hungry for information and these sites are just a few that I am finding myself visiting on a daily basis. I love my Google Reader but I’ve been reluctant to add some of these sites to it. I have way too many subscriptions (current unread article count – 114) now that I can hardly keep up with. I think it’s a bit more efficient if I just keep some of these sites out of Reader.
On another subject, the new American Gladiators show kicks ass. It’s way corney but so good. I recommend you give it a shot. It’ll being back fond memories of your childhood if nothing else.
Sadly, my YouTube addiction is coming back with a vengance. I guess it’s not a bad thing but it sure does eat up a lot of free time!!
These past few weeks have been some of the best weeks ever. I’m hoping that this continues for a very long time. Everything is going so well… I love it. I hope everyone’s 2008 is going well and that it will continue on into the rest of this year.
Oh, and it appears that I’m doing better at this posting thing. Maybe it’s the fact that I take time out of my day (lunch break) to go to the closest Starbucks and sign on to the net? Maybe I can make this a daily (or almost daily) ritual? Wouldn’t that be nice?
My Weekly Update??
Why can’t I remember to blog more often? I’m kind of lazy about it. I’ve tried to make more of an effort. I think I’m worried that I won’t have anything interesting to say. Is it actually necessary to have something interesting to say on a personal blog site?
Ok, so here’s what’s up recently. This week of work was kind of hellish, many things happened. My boss put in his 2 weeks notice, totally unexpected. I had lots of small issues that came up during the week. It was kind of annoying and it made the week go by sort of slowly. Oh well, it’s over now and this upcoming week will probably be good. There will be a lot of people on vacation which means my life will be a bit less hectic. We have a going away event for my boss on Thursday, which should be interesting.
I’ve found myself watching less and less TV recently. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe it’s because most of the shows I watch are going into reruns for who knows how long. I’m also finding myself spending more time reading and doing things around the house that I would normally put off until the weekend. It’s a good thing, right?
This weekend, my cousin is in town. We’re doing the hang out thing and some shopping. A pretty relaxing weekend actually. It’s interesting how much you can miss talking and visiting with someone. I’ve been reflecting on that more recently. Maybe it has to do with the time of year? Everything that’s been going on the past few months of this year has definitely had an impact on me. I’ve started learning more about who Daniel is.
Ok, we’re done with all this. I will try, I swear, to be more of a constant blogger. Check out my picture blog though, it’s update more often and, like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
TiVo Caught Up!
I can’t believe it! I’ve actually caught up on all my “must see” shows! Amazing. I still have tons of stuff on my TiVo but they’re not things that I need to see.
Tomorrow I will be seeing an advance screening of Juno. I will try to post a review here but you can always catch it on facebook.
Subscription Cancellation Nightmare?
So, I had to cancel my subscription to TV Guide today. Most of the time, you get grilled as to why you are canceling your subscription. Sometimes you are given a guilt trip into keeping on with the subscription. How was my cancellation request with TV Guide? Pure JOY! “How may I help you today?” “I need to cancel my subscription.” “Sure, I can help you with that, what’s your customer number?” “Customer number is @@@@@@” “Ok, your subscription is canceled, please tear up any bills you have. Thank you for calling TV Guide.”
So, TV Guide got points in my book. If I ever decide to subscribe again, I won’t have any qualms about doing it. This is how all customer service should be!
Time to go to work… sadness. Later.
OMG! Hey Paula!
Ok, so Bravo is doing a reality show on Paula Abdul’s life. WTF?! How freaking boring…
You know I’ll be watching! ;o)
Late.
Great TV
There are two shows that I just have to mention here real quick.
The first is The Riches on FX. It stars Minni Driver and Eddie Izzard. It’s a TV Drama but has some very nice comedy thrown right on in. It is very well written and acted! I was completely blown away by this show, it’s a MUST SEE. Either see it on FX or download it on the net somewhere!

The second show is Friday Night Lights on NBC. All I have to say is WATCH IT! It’s the BEST new TV show on at the moment. Executed with great precision, the stories are well written and put together. They are well directed and acted. You’d expect a show like this to fall into all sorts of teenage cliches, but it doesn’t! I can’t say enough about this show. Tuesdays on NBC. Watch it, you won’t be disappointed!
Are You?
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?
That’s the question everyone is asking these days. This new game show on the FOX network has been earning a lot of press. What makes this show so appealing? Well, I think it’s because people enjoy knowing that they have a real shot at knowing the answer to the question. It’s no Jeopardy type question. It’s not even a pointless pop culture question you’d see on 1 vs. 100. These are actual factual questions that everyone should have learned at one point in their lives. Anyway, sometimes the questions are a bit ridiculous… I mean, did you learn that NA stood for Sodium in the 4th grade? I know I sure didn’t but I guess elementary education has become more difficult since I attended. Another good example of questions that I think are a bit outside if their grade level are the grammar questions. Now, I can’t really remember but, did we learn what pronouns, adjectives, and the like were in the 1st grade? Hmmm…
Anyway, the show is amusing to watch and I get a kick out of seeing grown adults second guess themselves when they know they have the right answer. I’m sure the novelty will wear off but at least the contestants on this show seem to actually have a chance at that elusive $1,000,000 that all the other game shows out there are struggling to give away!
Thoughts?
American Idol Quickie
Yeah, so if you watched this evening… the next American Idol will be a woman.
Time for bed now… late!
