Picking your “current mood” is hard…

First! 5 STARS FOR TEAM AMERICA – WORLD POLICE. You have to see this movie. It’s fucking hilarious!!!

Second, Works sucks real bad and I need a vacation right this moment!!

Damn! It’s hard to write a journal post when you’re chatting to 5 people at the same time! Oh well.

House hunting sucks, the market is crap. I’m about to give up for a bit. I’m just going to have my agent look for things that come on the market that I may be interested in… then she can just let me know. Seems to be the smart thing to do instead of hunting high and low for something that’s just acceptable. I saw some houses the other day that I wouldn’t feel comfortable letting a dog live in…ugh! Nasty. Why would anyone in their right mind what to spend 130K of their hard earned cash on that shit is beyond my comprehension.

Anyway, British Airways felt like tempting me again… $188 round trip from Phoenix. I figure the song below is appropriate for this post. Anyway, it makes me mad because I don’t really have the cash to go, nor do I know anyone who has the cash that could go with me… not like I wouldn’t have a good time by myself, but things are more fun with friends… you know how it is.

About 2 weeks until Torino 2006 tickets go on sale. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can get them over the net instead of having to go through some damn tour group here in the states. I have 2 contacts at work that have family that live in Europe, so that’s always a possibility.. now I just have to ask myself who I trust more….

OK, back to my friends who i’ve been ignoring on IM for the past 6 minutes. I went to the State Fair this weekend and it was awesome! I’ll see if I can pull some pics together to post… of course, if you would like some, you just have to email. Later!

Ugh.. Thank God there is only one more weekend!

OK, again I have to bitch and complain about my job at BOB. These high schoolers are pissing me off more than you can even understand. They are driving me insane. I’m sorry, but this is a part time, easy ass job, and it shouldn’t be that hard to just do your job, right? Well, these children seem to have some major issues. This weekend has been pretty good though, so I can’t complain too much… except….

Ok, how hard is it to understand what sexual harassment is and how not to do it??? At the beginning of the season we had the staff meeting where this was all explained to us… but I guess it didn’t stick. I had to speak to 2 guys today about comments they were making. They didn’t seem to realize that sexual harassment doesn’t necessarily have to be directed towards someone who is working with you… it can just be a derogatory comment made about someone of the opposite/same sex that someone finds offensive and creates a hostile work environment. I’m not sure if this makes me less of a ‘guy’ or not but I don’t see why anyone would see the need to say things about a girl that is walking by that I just can’t repeat in this post! Is that supposed to be cool? Am I just too old? What’s the deal? Anyway, I felt kind of weird having to mention it to these guys, but I have to do the whole manager thing, besides the fact that it’s not very professional. I mean, there are girls that work with us and there was a girl that was working with us today.

Anyway, that’s all the ranting for today.

Hey you, person in FL! Watch out for Ivan, he’s headed right at Tallahassee and I don’t think he wants to play nice!!

BB5 update!! Imagine that!

OMG!

Ok, so here’s what went down!

They show some more of the behind the scenes from Thursday’s show. They show Jase (during the commercial break) calling out Adria, saying she’s the biggest liar in the whole house and that she betrayed her word…. all of this because Scott was gone. Jase takes marvin aside and says that he voted for Marvin to stay and that Karen voted for him to leave (a total lie). Marvin didnt’ believe a word of it though. Cut back to the living room, Jase won’t drop the whole Adria lying thing, it gets really heated, Marvin jumps in and says, “didn’t you just say that you voted for me to stay and that Karen voted me out, so why are you mad that Scott is gone? Shouldn’t you be happy? What are you accomplishing by saying that Adria is a liar?” Then! Julie comes back on and is telling them about the whole new twist… and then cut to Jase in the diary room, “I just get done cussing this girl out and what walks through the diary room door? Another one!” So he’s all mad that he was such a jackass to Adria and now he’s basically made two enemies right off the bat (as if the whole house didn’t just dislike him (besides cowboy and drew!))

Next, Food competition… they have to eat pies to get food cards at the bottom of the pies. There are 5 eat cards and only the players that find those will be able to eat the food that all the players are pulling from the pies. There is also one steal card, where the player who gets that can take an eat card from someone who has one, or not, if they choose. Will wins the steal card and steals Diane’s eat card. Will, Marvin, Natalie, Karen, and Cowboy (along with the HOH, Nic) all get to eat. everyone else is on PB&J.

Cut to nomination ceremony… Nic shocks Jase by pulling his key from the nomination box first… he totally thought he was going to get put up. He’s overly happy. The two people nominated are Diane and Marvin. Little does Jase know that this is all an elaborate plan to get him out of the house. The 6 people vieing for the veto will be in the alliance and they will remove either Diane or Marvin from the block and Nic will put up Jase, and he’ll have no way of getting himself off! So he’s out! (if it all comes together… so Tuesday will be an important/exciting show!)

Now, what else is going on in my life, besides Big Brother… lol.

Work at BOB sucked this weekend…. it was extremely boring. There is no one at the games… at least no one that is buying anything. At least I was downstairs today… I was able to watch the game, even though the dbacks lost 11 – 4. Damn Braves.. oh well!

Again, I must remind all of you that the Olympics start on Friday. I found a sweet site that has the commercials that NBC runs for the Olympics. I would suggest you all go and check it out. Some are funny.. others are just a bit inspirational, and some are just sappy… but whatever, they’re all good… go here!

Work this upcoming week should be pretty good. No major things going on and we have our quarterly bowl-a-thon. This time the Rules Development Dept takes on the Data Quality Dept… and maybe a rematch with the Customer Service Dept (but we already beat them, even when they cheated, so if they win, it won’t count). This is to go down on Friday, so I’ll keep you posted on how the trash talking at work goes… and of course the final score!!

Also, my 1 year anniversary is in 2 weeks… Aug 25th. I have to setup my review so I can get a raise, and yes, I am getting a raise. Hopefully I can get what I want… but we’ll see. I’ll let you all know how it goes!

That’s all for today’s post… it was quite lengthly, but it had a huge BB update that was exceedingly important.

why work sucks (sometimes) and other quips

So, sometimes work sucks. Yes, those days are usually occur more often than good days, but we won’t get into that at the moment. I knew today was going to be one of those days. You just get this feeling before the work day really starts. You can also tell it’s going to be one of those days when you look at the clock assuming you have been at work for a good 2 hours at least only to find that 45 mins have passed since you arrived. Not good. Anyway, so I’m working on Cost Allocation for wonderful EMEA. The problem is spelled out in an email, in some language other than English (at least not a form of English I can understand) and I have to get the opinions of 2 other people as to what is really being said. I get an explaination saying that we’re matching things incorrectly… I really can’t go into much detail because you just wouldn’t understand, and I don’t think I’m even allowed to. So i’m thinking, “how easy a fix will this be, just find out why it’s not matching and fix it.” But is it ever that easy? No. I spend a little over 5 1/2 hours researching what is going on, asking more questions, getting answers from the customer, etc.

After all this time, i’m still no closer to an answer. I figure that i’m totally missing the point so I decide to re-read the email. Upon further investigation through other channels not explored in my first reading of the message I come to find out that we aren’t wondering why these certain things weren’t matching, but rather we want to know why we’re allocating the bills to different entities (this action is not allowed for EMEA). So, out of the 719 bills in this invoice, 2 were allocating to different entities… so I pull them out, test them… and guess what… they are no longer allocating to this incorrect entity… it seems that rules which were placed into effect earlier in the week have taken care of this issue… so this BIG issue that I have spent the whole day researching, troubleshooting, questioning, etc is not an issue at all… It was the most productive use of 7 1/2 hours of my life… OH MY GOD. Sometimes I really dislike my job and some of the people who work with me… ugh…

My other quips…

BB5 and TAR are still freaking awesome shows. No quotes from TAR episode three… except for one… (ok, maybe 3)

Mirna: “Does my hair look ok?” (said on the drive to the pit stop, god forbid she look gross for Phil. lol!!)
Pizza Guy (who knows their names? must not be really important…lol): “Bitch!” (as they drive past Mirna and Charla’s car, totally confusing Mirna, lol!)
Charla: “I just got electrocuted!” (said right after she grabs onto an electric fence)

And in BB5 news..> I hate Jase and Scott even more now. Of course Jase vetoed Holly off the eviction list, why wouldn’t he, bastard. Now a good player will have to go. Hopefully it’ll be Lori since she already won some money and not Karen. I think Karen can go a long way this season, if she can make it through this eviction round. Just FYI to all those people who may become contestants on BB in the future… NEVER VETO SOMEONE OFF! You will not last longer than 2 weeks after you’ve done that… you only make enemies in the house… especially the HOH. (of course, knowing Jase and his luck, the 2 week rule will not apply to him and he’ll win the $500,000 at the end of it all! damn!)

And finally! I don’t work BOB this weekend. Since the D-Backs suck ass no one is going to the games so they don’t need as many people manning the stands… yay! A free weekend! (boo, i’m not making money!!).

What a long update! I need to get back into my routine… but it’s hard to remember to write every day, but i’ll try harder. Current Music – Highly Recommend this Artist!

One last thing… See I,Robot (quite entertaining, not picture of the year material, but a good time none the less.. I WANT A ROBOT!!)

Ok, one more last thing… 3 weeks till Athens! Can’t wait! It’s gonna be great! Go TEAM USA! Dominate the medal count (like always!) I predict over 100 this time around! (sorry canada, you don’t perform as well when there isn’t snow involved)

I’m a slacker, or am I just busy??

Ok, so I’ve been really bad at keeping up on my posts here… but this next week will be much less hectic than the past week was.

Normally I only work the weekend baseball games at the BOB (which, btw, will have a new name come December, how sad). But this last week was Yankees week so they needed all the help the could get. So guess who stepped up? That’s right, me. So I went to my real job at 7.30am, left there by 4.15 to arrive at the game by 5pm and worked until after 9.30pm and got to bed by 11pm so I could rise at 5.30am to do it all over again… not much fun. But the D-Backs are on the road for 10 days, whew! Of course, they only won one game this home stand, out of 6 games played… boooo!! oh well!! (we took 2 of 3 from the Jays last week, so it’s all good).

This upcoming week will be filled by movies… I have too many to see and not enough time to see them in. Top three on my list are Love Me If You Dare, Dodge Ball, and Saved! (the last one is going to be great!)

Ok, time for bed, I have work tomorrow… yuck!

A 4 Day Week!

I am sooooo glad this is a 4 day week. Tomorrow our project goes into production… not going to be good… very scary. Supposedly we’re going to start with the smallest part of the carrier and work our way up… but we’ll see. I’m just not looking forward to troubleshooting all the issues that may (will) make themselves known once we go live with this… I guess this will be the end of “boring” work weeks?

Anyway, the baseball game last night was pathetic… hardly anyone was there, it was super hot, and the time seemed to drag on forever! I seriously don’t know why I do it anymore… oh yeah, $9.50 an hour to do shit…

And I didn’t post yesterday, so here’s what happened yesterday…

Got up early to wash and wax my car… figured I’d better get up and do it before it got too hot out. So I was up and outside by 7am, and what do I notice… I have a flat tire… WTF?? I seriously only drove to Target on Sunday and the car has been sitting in the driveway since then… Turns out there was a Phillips head screw in the tire. I had to call around to about 8 different places before I found one that was open on the Holiday. Then I spent about an hour or so waiting to get it fixed… Then I got home and waxed my car… (I had washed it before I went to get the tire fixed because nothing opened until 8am or so anyway). After I got done waxing the car, I only had about 2 hours before I had to be down at the ballpark for work… So, my 3 day weekend turned into a 1 day weekend… not fun.

ok, that’s enough for one post. I’ve bored you enough! :)

Some things…

It’s been a few days since I last posted… actually 3 days to be exact… here’s what’s happened….

Wednesday – Went to the second ever performance of The Lord of the Rings Symphony in North America. It was performed by the Phoenix Symphony and it was GREAT! I would highly recommend going to see this if your local symphony performs it. It’s definitely a must for any fan of the films!

Thursday – Helped my friend finish packing up her stuff and all the fun crap that goes along with moving… and said goodbye… how sad. we won’t be seeing each other until December at the earliest…. but I have something to look forward to, right?? (and by then she’ll have a child, so it’ll definitely be different)

Friday – Worked my ass off at work, trying to stave off the possibility of having to work on Saturday. This major project is a HUGE pain in my ass and I now officially hate HP. Also! Saw The Day After Tomorrow and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried not to get my hopes up too high for this movie. I was relieved when it actually out performed my expectations, an excellent follow up to the official summer movie season started last week by Shrek 2 (which IS a must see if you haven’t yet!! Multiple viewings are in order!) Next week Harry Potter! A guaranteed to please movie!

Saturday (today) – Unable to finish the project to the point we wanted, I had to go to work today. Ugh, a horrible start to a holiday weekend… my 3 day weekend has been shaved down to 2 days… thanks to HP (the bastards!). Anyway, got a ton done today, even though half the team left early. Got in a 8am, was supposed to leave at 12 (half the team did), but actually worked until 3.30… so 6.5 hours of work on a official weekend day… not fun!

All is well now, I’m at home, using the net, listening to my music… actually, I think I’ll watch some of the Smallville’s my sister brought over… never really got into that show, but her roommate is addicted and has purchased the first season on DVD and will be getting the second soon… so why not watch when you don’t have to worry about those damn commercials??

Ok, that’s enough for now. Time to get on to other things. I hope to keep up my routine of writing once a day… we’ll see.

Yes, another work rant…

Line cutters, hate them, so please don’t do it… Why would you be able to order a Shaved Ice from the Lemonade area of the stand? Oh, is it because you don’t want to wait in the extremely long line for shaved ice??? Well, too bad, you have to, and now you have to go to the end of the line, jackass!

See how short that rant was? I figure we all get the point, so why drag it on. Oh, good news, no one spoke Spanish to me outright. Bad news, we lost to Montreal! UGH!

And finally! Yes, I have made reservations on America West to arrive in the city of Toronto in early June! How exciting! More on that later, but now it’s time to sleep, because I have another exciting day at the ballpark ahead of me… wheee!!

Ugh… no idea what to put here…

Let me just say that I was hoping this week of work would be better than last week… unfortunately that is not the case. This week is the same, if not worse than last week. Sooooo much crap going on at work, it’s almost more than I can handle. Oh well… it’s almost Friday and I have a feeling next week will be better…. mainly because the boss will be on vacation! YEAH! lol

Once again I must pause and praise my car. In Arizona you’ve got to love what you drive, and I do!

Time to get ready for an evening out on the town (if that’s what you call accompanying your mother on her Mother’s Day gift, a Josh Groban concert, lol).

Warning! Work related venting! Consider yourself warned!!

Ok, once again, work is driving me crazy. This would be the consession stand work at the BOB. Surprisingly enough, it’s not the high schoolers this time. Anyway, yesterday must have been “stupid customer day.”

Again, two main issues… if you see us cleaning up the stand, the lemonade is empty, the lights are off, and things seem to be picked up, we are closed. That means we have no lemonade to sell, we have no cotton candy to sell, we have nothing! Don’t ask! No, we don’t give shit away for free either. Do I just live a sheltered life? Where are free products being given away??? Please share, because that’s a pretty sweet deal. I’m pretty sure I’ve ranted about this issue before, but it deserved another visit after last night. Oh yeah, and trying to make me feel guilty by saying that I’m making a 4 year old sad doesn’t work. If you wanted to avoid any sadness you should have bought it back in the 2nd inning. Besides, who in their right mind is going to give a 4 year old SUGAR at 10.30 at night? !?

Anyway, second issue and MAJOR pet peeve of mine… Yes, I realize we’re in Arizona. Yes, I realize we’re 3 hours from Mexico. Yes, I realize many people move from Mexico to live in America… but no, we do not speak spanish here and we’re not required. No, I don’t speak spanish. No, you shouldn’t assume I do because I’m “brown” or, in other words, “look like I should.” Also, if you can speak english, perfect english (or at least good enough english) then speak it! Here’s what happened…. story time:

A man comes up to the stand, asks for some lemonade. Sounds innocent enough, except he asked in spanish. It had already been a long day and so I just ignored the fact he asked in spanish and I just answered in english. He then proceedes to ask for a specific flavor (in spanish) and I again answer in english. He finally gets the point and finishs our transaction in english. Btw, he speaks english as well as I do with hardly any accent. When he leaves he says, “Why didn’t you just answer me back in Spanish? You obviously understand it.” “I’m sorry sir, but I don’t speak spanish, I just understood what you were asking for because we get a lot of spanish speakers here.” “Well, you’re mexican right? You should speak spanish.” “Actually sir, I’m half mexican, and no I shouldn’t. We live in America where the official language is english. You shouldn’t presume that someone speaks spanish just because they ‘look’ like they should.” Man leaves stand with a look of disgust on his face. I believe we’ve lost a customer… lol.

The moral of the preceeding story? Don’t assume someone speaks a specific language just becuase they look like they should. Also, don’t be rude and expect someone to speak your native language, you’re in america, we speak english, get over it or go home!

Ok, this all probably sounds like i’m going overboard on a small issue, but it seriously happens to me on a daily basis and you should see the looks of disgust i get from people when they realize I don’t speak spanish and I look mexican. It drives me crazy. I have been to many countries where they don’t speak english and I have NEVER once assumed that anyone spoke english nor have I expected someone to know how to speak english to make it “easier” on myself. I find that to be extremely rude and even offensive (given I am half mexican and my dad’s family all grew up speaking spanish only, but they don’t go around assuming people speak spanish or that they should speak spanish or that things should be done for them in spanish, blah blah blah).

Alright… I figure i’ve beat this issue to death, but I just had to get it off my chest. I have another game tonight… hopefully it’s better than yesterday!
